Hi, my results always come back within range, but I have symptoms and have some relevant genetic mutations. These are the most recent results from July

ENDOCRINOLOGY

TOTAL THYROXINE(T4) 108 nmol L 59 - 154

THYROID STIMULATING HORMONE 1.98 mIU L 0.27 - 4.2

FREE THYROXINE 15.1 pmol 12.0 - 22.0

FREE T3 4.4 pmol L 3.1 - 6.8

25 OH Vitamin D 105 nmol L 50 - 200

Interpretation of results:

Deficient <25 nmol/L

Insufficient 25 - 49 nmol/L

Normal Range 50 - 200 nmol/L

Consider reducing dose >200 nmol/L

IMMUNOLOGY

THYROID ANTIBODIES .

Thyroglobulin Antibody 10.9 IU mL 0-115

Method used for Anti-Tg: Roche Modular

Thyroid Peroxidase Antibodies 10.1 IU mL 0 - 34

Method used for Anti-TPO: Roche Modular

These were all reported as normal, would you agree?

I have these genetic mutations:

CTLA4 Thr17Ala G AG +/-

rs1867277 FOXE1 5378A>G A AA +/+

rs10984009 FOXE1 8124G>A A GG -/-

I have constiptation most of the time, my hair falls out more than usual every so often, i have itchy skin, weight gain/difficulty loosing weight etc

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

Julie

JTaberer,

TSH, Free thyroxine (FT4) and Free T3 are euthyroid (normal) and thyroid antibodies are negative for autoimmune thyroiditis (Hashimoto's). You don't appear to have thyroid dysfunction.

I don't know what those gene mutations are. Perhaps you can Google them for more information.

You could try a 100% gluten-free diet to see whether constipation and itchy skin improve. Give it a couple of months and if there is no improvement you may as well reintroduce gluten.

Ask your GP to check ferritin, vitamin D, B12 and folate. Low ferritin/iron commonly causes hair loss.

Hi, thank you, i think the genes relate to some form of thyroid dysfunction from what I can remember which was why I was querying the results, was both vit b12 and vit d deficient, injections and tablets have corrected the deficiencies
