This forum is so helpful for newbies like me who just want the truth with no nonsense. I have been gluten free and grain free for over a year, and limited dairy. I have also been tested for food sensitivity with no obvious culprit. I also show markers for RA although at the present time I am not having any symptoms. Also, in the past couple of weeks, I am showing signs of insulin resistance or early pre-diabetes. Extreme thirst, dry mouth and eyes, and have to urinate at least 10 times during the night. I am searching for the root cause of all these symptoms......they are all symptoms of the same problem. You guys are right, most all of the specialist that I have seen are clueless to food sensitivities and environmental medicine. I guess the reason that I was not given meds is because I am within range. Most folks that are hypothyroid are cold, I am the opposite. I am unable to regulate my body heat and will be soaking wet just sitting at my computer. I am 54 years young and went through the change over 2 years ago. It is so annoying. I am willing to do everything that it takes to get well, and your helpful knowledge is a great start. Thanks again!

Robinliberatore,

Are you prescribed Levothyroxine and have you had a HbA1C blood test to check for diabetes?

No, I haven't had the HbA1C test because I have never had these symptoms. I was diagnosed with RA and then was given prednisone with methotrexate. I gained 40 pounds and my symptoms did not change. I stopped taking those meds but my adrenals were now stressed. I believe elevated cortisol is what has caused my pre diabetic symptoms. The Endo that I saw said I didn't need any supplemental hormones. So far my symptoms are asthma, RA, Hashimoto's and my fasting blood sugar is like 126. I have eliminated all sugar from my diet and only use stevia if I need something sweet. No complex carbs like bread, crackers, muffins, pancakes etc. I have also elimated all grains soy and dairy to reduce systemic inflammation. That has helped quite a bit but my fasting glucose is still on the high side. I show symptoms for both hyper and hypo thyroid. I am NEVER cold, always hot and sweating profusely! If I averaged my fasting glucose for 3 months it would be 111. Last December I was taken by ambulance to emergency because I couldn't breathe in or out. The EMT eventually stabilized me by using a CPAP. It was not an asthma attack and my glucose was taken then and it was 156.....and that was fasting. I live in the US and have little faith in our medical system. All of my diagnosis are symptoms of the same problem and not each it's own disease.

One seems to lead into the other, I am just trying to find where I should begin.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Robinliberatore,

TSH 5.080 is over range but FT4 and FT3 are within range which indicates subclinical hypothyroidism. As you are symptomatic your physician could prescribe Levothyroxine. Thyroid controls temperature and although most hypothyroid patients feel cold some become unbearably hot and sweaty.

Thyroid antibodies are negative for autoimmune thyroid disease (Hashimoto's).

I notice that DHEA is below range but I don't know what the significance of that is. Perhaps you would like to post your DHEA and cortisol results in a separate post for advice.
