New blood results.

Hi everyone.

I have just had my new bloods in. Although i think I'm starting to get the hang of the bloods I would love your input please. If nothing else for conformation of my own thoughts.

I had my previous bloods run in the beginning of Dec. My doctor decided to put my Levo up from 150 mic to 175 as my TSH had shot up and I was, and still am, feeling pants. ( short of breath, exhausted, cold etc) I have had spirometry and chest xrays done so all fine there.

My new bloods where taken yesterday and was back this am and this is what it says.

FT4 29.4 (122-22) Previous bloods 18.8 (12-22)

FT3 5.9 (3.1-6.8) Bloods 1 yr ago 4.3 (3.1-6.8)

TSH .0.4 (0.27-4.2) Prev 3.32 (0.27-4.2)

Vit D 41 (50-120) Prev 38 (50-120) I have increased supplements since last bloods

Cortisol 194 (171-536)

TPO AB 180.3 (0-34) First time tested

B12 548 (197-771) Prev 312 (197-771) I have increased the supplement

Folate 7.9 (3.9-25) Prev 2.6 (>3.9) New testing method

So, am I right in thinking;

1, I have Hashimotos?

2, My T3/T4 conversion is rubbish?

3, I am over medicated?

4, I should ask Dr for VitD inj if they do that?

Thank you everyone for any help with this xxxx

Hi your thyroid results are very similar to mine some time ago. I was on 200 mcg thyroxine for over twenty years. Now my new clever drs have reduced my tablets over this year and put me down to 100 mcg needles to say I feel rubbish. I'm only going with what they say so I can show their negligence to the world well the endo when I'm finally referred.

I feel you are like me you need more t4 to convert to t3.

So seems more logical to introduce t3 and slightly lower t4.

What has your Dr said?

Of course I only learning now after over twenty years of being on thyroxine.

Hi Pixelpup,

You are over medicated to have FT4 29.4. I would reduce dose to 150/175mcg alternate days. It doesn't matter if FT4 is a little over range say 24-25 but 29 is a bit too high.

FT3 5.9 is good but 4.3 a year ago wasn't great although I wouldn't say conversion was rubbish.

TPOab is positive for autoimmune thyroiditis (Hashimoto's). There is no cure for Hashimoto's which causes 90% of hypothyroidism. Treatment is for the low thyroid levels it causes. Many people have found that 100% gluten-free diet is helpful in reducing Hashi flares, symptoms and eventually antibodies.

VitD is low but not technically deficient which is <25. NHS may prescribe vitD tablets but I've never heard of vitD injections. I was prescribed high dose D3 softgel capsules to correct my vitamin D deficiency. Vit D is optimal around 100. How much were you supplementing and how much are you supplementing now?

Thanks 😊 I have no experience with the T4/T3 conversion but as I am so tired and my weight is well out of control no matter what I do I was thinking of bringing it up with my gp........again! If she is not interested do you think it would be worth trying a low dose for a few month and see if I feel different. If so where do I get it from privately please?

Thanks 😊

Pixelpup,

FT3 5.9 is excellent so I doubt you would feel any improvement in adding T3. You may feel tired due to being over medicated which can also cause weight gain. I would reduce Levothyroxine dose as I suggested above and tiredness will hopefully improve when FT4 is lower.

Pixelpup,

I would increase to 5,000iu daily for 2 months and then reduce to 5,000iu alternate days and retest in May. Take vitD 4 hours away from Levothyroxine.
