Hi there,

Please could someone offer me some advice with these results I am not sure if I am over or under medicated? I was asked to put up blood results once I had them. I take 10mg T3 and 100mg Levothyroxine.

TSH- 0.02 Range 0.27-4.2

T4. 20.4 Range. 12-22

T3. 7.1 Range 3.1-6.8

Haemoglobin 132 Range 120-150

Ferritin 85 Range 13-150 my ferritin is only up slightly it would be better 120.

B12 743 Range 197-771

Folate 10.5 Range 3.9-26.8

Many thanks 😊

TSH- 0.02 Range 0.27-4.2

T4. 20.4 Range. 12-22

T3. 7.1 Range 3.1-6.8

Shows possible slight overmedication. When we take combination hormone replacement we expect to see TSH very low or suppressed, often FT4 is lower in range and FT3 is usually in the upper part of it's range. So to have FT3 over range might mean that you are a bit overmedicated.

When did you take your last doses of Levo and T3 before the test?

Last dose of Levo should be 24 hours before test.

Last dose of T3 should be 8-12 hours before test, splitting into 2 or 3 doses and adjusting time of last dose the day before if necessary.

Hi Seaside Susie,

Thank you for your reply I appreciate it. I did take the levothyroxine 24 hours before. I split the t3 I would say it was nine o clock that night was my last dose and my blood test was at nine that morning.

My ferritin folate and b12 need to move a little up. I am still very tired and have the swelling under my neck.

Many thanks 😊

In that case I would look at tweaking your meds.

If they were my results the first thing I would do is slightly reduce the Levo, 12.5mcg or even 6.25mcg, see where that takes your FT4 level. Depending on how much natural conversion of T4 to T3 you have your FT3 might reduce as well. Retest 6-8 weeks after dose change.

Lots of gradual tweaking is often necessary when on combination hormone replacement, and it's surprising what a small change can do.

I am not medically qualified but my reply is based on personal experience of taking combination hormone replacement and having to tweak meds to find my optimal levels.

Hi Seaside Susie ,I hope you are well,😊

I spoke to my consultant he hasn’t changed anything but put me on more ferrous fumurate for three months as he says my saturation levels are not right.

I am still dizzy when standing I do not understand it all. I am due to get two teeth taken out over next few months - do u think there is any possibility that is causing my dizziness?

He also put me on antihistamines for nine days Telford 180 mg they made me wired terrible headaches and agitated. I stopped them last weekend has blurred vision for two days and felt shaken and extremely exhausted.

I appreciate all your advice and support it means a lot.

Many thanks I would be lost without this group.

I am not medically qualified but I have no knowledge of teeth needing to be removed having anything to do with dizziness.

Causes of dizziness are mentioned on the NHS website

nhs.uk/conditions/dizziness/

Click on the two options of (1) Dizziness when you're ill with something else and (2) Dizziness for no obvious reason.

I am still dizzy when standing I do not understand it all.

This seems to fit most closely to your circumstances:

When standing or sitting up suddenly - sudden drop in blood pressure (postural hypotension)

Has your blood pressure been looked into? Has your doctor tested your BP sitting and standing during a consultation?

Hi Seaside Susie,

Thank you for replying.

I have not had blood pressure tested standing no. I will maybe stop my iron for a week and see if it’s that brand causing dizziness as going by my blood results I should feel great.

My consultant is happy enough with my T3 result though it is on the high side.

Maybe I will just always have vertigo.

Many thanks 😊

Hi Seaside Susie,

I’m so sorry to bother you again. I just wanted to ask could there be any possibility I am taking too much T3 or could I split it? I’m just wondering as my range was over could that be the reason?

Many thanks 😊

I don't know, it may be. I've had my FT3 over range and I've not experienced dizziness, but that doesn't mean that it would be the same for you.

I used to take my T3 all in one dose but now I split it. I don't feel any difference at all but the reason I continue to split it is that I had a surprise test at my GP surgery after I'd taken my full dose. Although we know that T3 peaks 2-4 hours after ingestion, my result was quite a bit over range. I decided I'd rather not have such a large peak and now split it.

As I said in a previous reply, if they were my results I'd be lowering my dose of Levo, by reducing that you will reduce your FT4 which in turn should reduce your FT3 as well. See what the results are after 6-8 weeks and reassess.

If you have previous results you could always post them, as long as you post the result, range, the doses of Levo and T3 at the time of the test and when last doses were taken, and that the tests were all done under the exact same circumstances, we can compare them accurately.

Those are the results you posted in your opening post here, I meant historic results. No matter.

I've looked back at some of your previous posts. It seems that you had a reaction to your Pfizer vaccination 2 months ago, it's not beyond the realms of possibility that this may still be a problem.

I am over anxious irritable shaky migraines have goitre too.

Have you had thyroid antibodies tested? If you have a goitre, you may possibly have Hashimoto's (autoimmune thyroid disease).

You said in your previous thread

it just feels like I’m flipping between under and over active thyroid

This is indicative of Hashimoto's. Another reason to get thyroid antibodies tested.

In your previous thread (the vaccine reaction one) you told SlowDragon that you were taking 10mcg T3 and had been since March. In your opening post here you said you were taking 10mcg T3 yet in your post just above you say you're taking 20mcg T3. This is very confusing.

Pyrodoxine 50mg

Pyridoxine is B6. Is this prescribed, if so for what condition?

If not prescribed and you are self supplementing, why 50mg. Although this is within the "tolerable upper limit", for regular use it's recommended to take no more than 10mcg daily

Why the separate B vitamins, have these all been tested individually? Why not a good quality B Complex that balances all the B vitamins?

b12 763 Range 196-771

Your B12 level is over range. Why are you taking B12?

Oh gosh I am due to get my second vaccine next Monday too…I have had the vertigo since 2019 and only chatting to consultant via telephone as can’t get to see him..

My consultant put me on thiamine and pyrodoxine to help migraines and fatigue, he said b complex didn’t work for me.

I think I have goitre I’m not sure it’s just swollen always . My consultant said I could get iodine drops if I wanted.

Yes sorry it’s 10mg t3 I’m taking at once.

I haven’t had antibodies tested in nearly two years as GP doesn’t test it unfortunately.

It’s eight weeks since I had the vaccine. My Kinesiologist said I need to get reflexology or cranio therapy to balance my system.

Many thanks 😊

So have they been tested prior to that?

Yes they were fine at that time - I don’t know the result but I trust my consultant . 😊

Hi Seaside Susie ,Hope you are well this beautiful day.

I just wanted to check is it every six hours I take my t3? I have split it today to see if it helps my spaced out and dizzy feeling and I stopped b12 yest to see if that makes any difference.

Many thanks 😊

There are no rules. You take it as, when and how it suits you.

I used to take mine in one dose before I got up in the morning.

I now take it split into 2 doses 12 hours apart. Because of the amount I take I can't divide it equally, so larger dose in the morning, smaller dose in the afternoon.

Some people divide into 3 doses 8 hours apart.

Experiment and see what suits you.

I think it’s worth a try to see how I feel as nothing else is working. How long did it take for you to notice the difference?I might try and take the rest at four which would be six hours apart five mg twice in the day.

Thank you so much I would be so lost without this group- I thought about ringing gP though they would prob stop t3 and tell me it’s normal.

How long did it take for you to notice the difference?

I haven't noticed any difference. In my reply above from a couple of days ago I explained why I decided to split my T3 but said that I noticed no difference.
