Hi there ,

Please could someone help me with these results . I am still very tired and dizzy .

TSH 0.02 range 0.27-4.2

T4 14.7 range 12-22

T3 6.5 range 3.1- 6.8

Iron folate 20 range 3.9- 6.8

Vitamin b12 folate 561 was 590 last time range 197-771

Iron profile 20.5 range 10-30

I have been taking vitamin b complex for a month now which does contain biotin.

I have been on my increased level of 100 mg levothyroxine and t3 20 mg split through twice a day . I am so exhausted all the time can function if I take extra t3 but next day shaky legs and exhausted again .

Please can someone help offer me some advice as everyone on here is so helpful and more expert on this as I have no idea .

Many thanks

Angela

Not an expert but your T3 seems high. Maybe reduce the T3? If a Dr saw your suppressed TSH I don’t think they’d be happy.

Hi Puska ,

Thanks for your kind reply - I couldn't do less t3 as it gives me any energy that I have at all .

Thanks

How long after meds was your blood draw

Did you stop taking vitamin B complex, or any supplements containing biotin, remember to stop these 3-5 days before any blood tests, as biotin can falsely affect test results

Hi Slow dragon ,

Thanks so much for replying . I stopped everything 24 hours before hand though not five days . The doc has given me another months supply of folate tablets .

Thanks

Why has he given you folate? It's already overbramge.

Do you have B12 results?

Your folate is way above range at 20.

This can be masking a B13 deficiency.

I also note your B12 is not high enough

Hi 130396 thank you for your kind reply . Please could you tell me should I stop the folate ? I have never heard of b13 .

Thank you

Hi Angela, I wouldn't worry about a supressed tsh, that is to be expected. Also t3 in the top quarter of the range is ideal. How long have you been taking t3? And how long on the increased t4/t3 dose? did you wait until after the blood test before your first dose of the day? I don't understand your folate result, looks odd. Have you had your ferritin tested? Also my other suggestion would be to try splitting the t3 in to more doses through the day.

Hi Cairo ,

Thanks so much for your kind reply . I saw my consultant at the end of June and he increased my thyroxine from 75 mg to 100 mg mid July about six weeks now . I have been on 20 mg t3 must be a year now . I was given an iron infusion two years ago . I took Pleurisy ten weeks ago and found out three months ago that my folate was v low though has went up to 20 now from 2.3 which it was . My ferritin was high and due to the pleurisy wasn't checked again . I only take t3 twice a day in half if I split it anymore I wouldn't feel effects of it at all as I have done that before . I am just so zonked I honestly think I need b12 tabs like doc was giving me before my gp put a stop to it as it has went to 1000 now it's going down again with taking the folate tabs . I have increased my tabs to two a day as gp doesn't test it and I realised from someone else's advice on the forum that it must b low as I'm constantly getting bugs .

Thank you so much for all your advice :)

Did you feel better with the B12 jabs? Why was your doctor giving them to you?

Soprano67 profile image
Soprano67 in reply tocario

No they weren't the jabs Cario it was b12 tablets he felt I needed them along with b6 and thiamin tabs then I saw gastroenterologist and she said to go off them as I could over dose . Yes I did I knew when I had pins n needles that I had enough but now since folate has went down I just have energy for nothing .

I have never been tested for zinc or magnesium .

Thank you :)

# B12!!!

I'd get dr to retest folate or question why he prescribed it when so high

Thanks 130396 , it was v low though it's strange it's gone up so much so quickly the folate though I only left 24 hours in berteeen taking it and there's also folate in my b complex .

Many thanks hopefully the consultant will do tests next Saturday as I should be feeling great instead of dizzy weak muscles and exhausted :)

I think your B12 is too low. Definitely need to start sublingual B12 5000mcg daily plus a good b vitamin complex. You need to find out what your ferritin is too. I think finding out what your red cell magnesium is, along with zinc would be very helpful. How old are you? What was your B12 level when first tested and had you been taking B12 already?

Certainly going by my own experience when I was really struggling to tolerate dessicated thyroid it was the B12 that was the magic bullet

Hi Cario ,

Thank you so much I think I need b12 too I am seeing my consultant next Saturday so hopefully he will do more tests . Since I took pleurisy my voice has not been the same and I feel the goitre is swollen as it's a bit sore . I have never had magnesium or zinc tested . I tried selenium tablets but found they made me more dizzy . I take the metabolics b complex and probiotic and still taking folate 5mg and two vitamin d3 tabs as I increased to two hoping that I will stop getting infections . I am hanging on by a thread in my job and have asked for a welfare rating for years but was told no though I think I have now discovered that thyroid comes under the Ewuality act 2010 . I have just turned 40 two months ago . I am just so dizzy no energy and weak tho on phase return so keep on trying .

My ferritin hasn't been tested since I took Pleurisy as think it was 280 tho must check .

Thank you so much I appreciate all your advice . Hope you are keeping well in your own health :)

Thank you
