Carriebaby,

Referring to a previous post you advise you medicate 100mcg Levo.

T3 is under half way through range & T4 half way through range so you have room for a dose raise. Supplementing 100 - 200mcg selenium will help with T4-T3 conversion encouraging a better level of T3 & help reduce any thyroid antibodies.

B12 is too low - recommended is 500-1000 and folate too low. These together with Vit D and ferritin help thyroid meds work and get T4 to convert to a further higher level of T3.

As per your previous post - I do not medicate NDT but understand you can stop Levo one day and start NDT of the equivalent dose the next. Depending on how you feel you can increase NDT every 2 weeks by 1/4 or 1/2 tablet until you are relieved of symptoms and feel better. 1 gr of NDT is approx 100mcg of levo.

However, I read NDT can be most unsympathetic of nutrient deficiencies and possible raised thyroid antibodies (? ? .. ). You would (probably) do better if you were to address these first.

Post Vit D and thyroid antibody results complete with ranges (numbers in brackets) when you receive them, for members to comment.

There is room for upping your dose but I feel your FT3 could still be a little on the low side so supplementing is a good thing as we tend to be low on most things. I take it from another reply that you are thinking of going over to NDT. When I did it I stopped myvlevo but started on a low dose of NDT. Think I started on 1 grain split into two doses and then after a couple of weeks raised by 1/4 grain. I think I hit almost three before I realised I was taking too much and finally settled at 2. The reason I did that, various people had told me different things, was that there was a suggested it was a sensible thing to do if I haven't taken T3 before and I read of ones not finding it easy to start off with. Plus you have the store of T4 which is decreasing as you are increasing the NDT.

Technically you can switch straight across to a NDT as reported above. Stopthrthyroidmadness has the conversion for you to work out your dose. However I agree with Silverfox that a little caution is always wise. When I switched I too started on a lower dose and put it up roughly every couple of weeks initially until I reached the equivalent dose of when I was on Levo. After that I went back to the 6-8 week protocol. If you do this you shouldn't got to far post your optimum dose called the 'sweet point.' Doing it this way I didn't have a problem switching.

If you switch brands if NDT there is no need to go through this above process over again as most NDTs contain the same active ingredients. They're difference lie in fillers and release/ uptake mechanisms.
