Itake nature throid, 3grains a day. I am happy with it. Why do you ask?

Because I ordered it and it says the ingredients are levothyroxine and T3. But I don’t want to take levo. I thought nature thyoid was all natural? I.e made from NDT , I’m confused dxx

RLC top up the NDT with synthetics to standardise the dose to +/-2% of active ingredients. Other companies may have a +/-10% variation between batches.

I've found it good, though there has been issues for some with the new formulation. I've just swapped over to Metavive ii which I'm finding fine aside from indigestion.

So does that mean it is mainly natural but they just add a bit of the synthetic stuff? Xx

Yes.

I was taking Nature Throid but gave up due to the new formulation BadHare . have been wondering about Metavive. I took 2 grains of Naturethroid, and wondering what the equivalent Metavive II would be ? How much do you take BadHare?

I was taking 1 grain of NT plus T3, & dropped to 1/2 grain of NT & 1 Metavive ii. I was away last week, & forgot to pack any NT, & was fine with 1 Metavive & a little extra T3, so from that experience, the Metavive ii seems slightly stronger than 1/2 grain of NT.

I've not needed lip balm every day, dry/split lips being my rapid indicator of NDT efficacy, even though Metavive isn't classed as an NDT.

Interesting reply @BadHare, I have noticed I have been getting dried out lips, and using more lip balm, hadn't thought of the connection....I like your mix of meds' and it appears to work for you. I wish I could find the right formula, I seem to ask questions all the time, and everybody is doing something different!!! It makes a difference I think if you have a thyroid or not. I don't have one, what about you?

It's trial & error to find out what will work best for you.

T3 alone doesn't help my skin issues. It was a surprise to find so many minor health problems resolved once I started NDT (& gave up unfermented soy). My heels looked like the before photo in a heel crack advert, & like my lips, would split & bleed no matter what I put on them. I thought I'd go bald two years ago, but my hair's starting to grow back after I increased my mineral intake. Having a good diet & micronutrient cofactors is essential.

I have a pituitary adenoma, & supposedly normal thyroid function.

Crumbs so many people have other issues BadHare , me included. My heels are in a sorry state too, but then it is the time of year when I walk around bare foot or with open toed sandals. However, I think I have read before that the heel skin cracking can be a sign of low thyroid/thyroid meds' not working properly. I am going to crack on trying to get my ferritin levels higher in the hope this will help me.

I've not come across that elsewhere. An hour in sandals in hot weather, & I'd have to spray my heels with skin spray. The problems returned when I had to ration NDT last year. I'm just pleased most of my skin issues are fixed.

Hi, do you get this on prescription or buy it directly?

HypoMorgan profile image
HypoMorgan in reply to metomorrow

I bought it. So far my doctor has told me I can only be prescribed levothyroxine (synthetic stuff the NHS can use) . So I’m doing this on my own x

I have a bottle Nature Thyroid and a bottle of WP Thyroid I ordered from International Pharmacy in 2018 as an experiment. I normally use NDT caps from a compounding pharmacy in Australia.

The AU NDT is caps and tastes slightly meaty. The Nature/WP are tablets, and have a slightly bitter taste.

The 2018 Nature/WP also clearly states on the bottles that they contain 9mcg liothyronine and 38mcg Levothyroxine for each 1x grain.

I previously purchased WP Thyroid in 2016 and it was supplied in caps and tasted slightly meaty like my Australian sourced NDT.

My conclusion is Nature Thyroid, WP Thyroid, Armour Thyroid are all now just imitation thyroid.

This was possibly done because real thyroid varies in strength by up to 10% per batch and in this age of law suits and big pharma is unacceptable .

I personally don't have a problem with a 10% variance as I believe NDT users should be tuning their dose daily anyway. (What I mean is we use different amounts of thyroid each day (winter/summer, exercise/no exercise etc) and therefor need to adjust our NDT dose depending on the bodies daily needs.) Hence if you get a weak dose you take more etc.

Anyway I would be very interested in others experience with Nature Thyroid , WP Thyroid and Armour Thyroid brands.
