Hi, I'm on NDT and taking 3 Grains and 25mcg of Levo.

My results are

TSH 0.01 (0.4-4.5)

FT3 10.9 (4-8.3)

FT4 12.9 (10-24)

Any help appreciated

Thanks

Nat

Angelharley, Assuming you left 24 hours between last dose and blood draw, your FT3 is high, which means you are overmedicated. FT3 shouldn't be over range. Reducing half a grain and stopping the 25mcg T4 may be enough but you should retest in 8 weeks to check.

I forgot not to take my dose and bloods were done at 11am. I;m always tested every 6 weeks Clutter, what would you suggest? I don't feel overmedicated.

Angel, I still think you may be overmedicated. You won't suffer long term if you wait it out for the next blood test before reducing dose.

Thanks Clutter for your response. Do I need to be concerned about my FT4 it's always on the low side, that's why I started to add in some Levo. Should I just forget the 25mcg of Levo?

Angelharley, FT4 usually drops when T3 in any form is added in. I think it may be a combination of taking oral T3 making higher levels of T4 for conversion to T3 unnecessary and posssibly because oral T3 is stimulating conversion too. I think dropping the Levothyroxine is a good idea until your next test.

What are your symptoms..that gives you more info than labs do. Some who are thyroid resistant need to take more t3 and labs will be over range, and they don't have hyper symptoms. Do you have hyper symptoms?

I totally agree! Labs are just a guide, but it's how you feel that really counts. If you feel good on that dose, with those labs, then stick to it. Why would you want to reduce?!?

Thank you I've reduced the T4 but staying on 3 grains. I'm not loosing any weight and a lot of my symptoms have gone.

No I don't think so. I get fiushed occasionally and I'm hot at night but then I'm, going through Menopause.

If you feel well, not hyper don't change a thing. If you cannot lose weight, i would consider a large reduction in t4 and add t3. T3 really helps normalize the metabolism quickly and well. Also, can you get a reverse t3 test? It looks like you don't convert t4 to t3 very well. This issue slows your progress to a halt.

You really need to have your blood drawn about 8am if possible. The earlier in the day the better.
