I was taking 1/2 grain of WP thyroid however as my dose is now over 2 grains it would be more cost effective to order 1 grain tablets instead of 1/2 grains.
I am not entirely sure if fillers and dyers are the same in 1/2 and 1 grain pills ?
I have emailed the manufacturer but I did not receive reply.
I have searched their website and it does not state about differences. I do not know what to do. Please advice me if you have experience with the above.
I am switching between Naturethroid and WP thyroid and I really do not know which one suits me better, I just hope that there is not much difference between Naturethroid and WP thyroid as I am substituting one for the other in case of emergencies (when I run out of one of them)
I am preparing for laparoscopy ( ovaries) and I am trying to make myself as hormonal -y balanced and strong as possible. So far not good, but still slightly better than on ERFA.
Advice greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

Hi edysia, this is interesting because I understood that Naturethroid had been reformulated about 3 years ago and cellulose added, whereas WP doesn't have any cellulose and is supposed to be minimal fillers, so wouldn't have expected them to be so similar. Thanks for mentioning this. Some of us are about to try WP and NP Acella because of the ERFA problem.
To answer your question, when I used to take Armour I preferred taking two and a half of the 1 grain tablets to one and a quarter of the 2 grain tablets, the one grains seemed stronger and this was probably to do with the fillers. They should be proportional in all sizes but I felt they used not to be with Armour.
Thank you for reply Framboise, That was my concern, sometimes tablets of various strength the same brand vary somehow, I could not take 1 grain of Erfa but was fine with 1/2 grains and that was way before reformulation. Fingers crossed, it will be fine. E xx
The tablets look as if they scale up evenly in physical size. However, without both a full range of tablets and a very accurate scale, I could not be sure.
If I were RLC, it would seem far, far more sensible to make one formulation of powder and then measure that out to form pills of the various strengths than the alternative (which is to make up different powders according to the strength they are destined to produce).
However, we do know that sometimes, at least in levothyroxine products, there is a change in formulation at the top or bottom of the scale to avoid making extremely large or small tablets.
No desiccated thyroid product I know of has any dye in it. Some have tiny amounts of white powder (e.g. titanium dioxide). Given that the manufacturers are catering to a market of people who are keen on a product they call "natural", the idea of putting in unnecessary dyes would seem to be very poor from a marketing perspective.
Thank you Rod. I did look at this chart many times, they look the same roughly, I am hoping they are no different in terms of dyes or any other additives, it would make very little sense indeed. E
Thank you Clutter, I hope they are the same, I just remember that WP thyroid called Westroid before had tablets of various colors, with different dyes. Each strength had different dye to mark the difference, it was pointless, they look the same now. I don't know if I am making any sense at this moment
I am exhausted. E xx
Hi Edysia,
When I was taking ERFA I much preferred the 1/2 grains to the 1 grains because they seemed more effective. I am switching to WP THYROID same as you and they arrived this morning. Will start them tomorrow. I am nervous because I just want them to work! I'm sorry I can't answer your question but I am following this thread with interest.
Have you tried Naturethroid ? How was it for you. I have ordered WP thyroid from <online source> yesterday ( refill) but my card was wiped out of money. I am very scared, some kind of fraud happened, just to add to all the hypo troubles. I hope that WP thyroid will work for you well. Wish you good health. E xx
Yes I did try Naturethroid and Armour. Both made me feel incredibly nauseous. I suspect it could be cellulose but only guessing. Do you feel any improvement on the WP THYROID?
Only slight improvment, but my life is so stressful( I am talking huge problems every day that I need to deal with, I live on the edge) so I am draining my adrenals beyond limits, that doesn't help, it is hard to tell if this is WP thyroid that is not helpful enough or is this my low cortisol that stops me from tecovery. Wp thyroid might be very good for you. Give it a good try. E x
