I live in the states, and we have a nature throid shortage here. I'm switching to WP and noticed that my dose is significantly lower on WP, yet a conversion chart shows that Nature Throid and WP should have a 1 to 1 conversion. Am I missing something? I was on 2 (65mg) and 3/4 (48.75mg) grains per day of Nature Throid. What was just prescribed to me was 1/2 grain (32.5 mg), 3 pills per day of WP. That equals 1.5 grains per day.
Thanks for any advice or info you can offer!

NatureThroid and WP have the same amount of T4 and T3 so you should have been prescribed 2.75 grains WP. I'm surprised you were able to get any WP as RLC have not produced any since August or Sept.
Hi im about to order WP from the US as I'm struggling to afford armour my current NDT and iv seen WP on the list for a year now but couldn't get any feedback on here about it
Clutter is absolutely correct.... WP and Naturethroid should be a 1 to 1 rate. They are even made by the same company. Some of the members of the US-based thyroid group I belong to are finding Naturethroid at CVS and some Walmart stores. Some have had to be insistent that the pharmacy order the Naturethroid for them and not just check to see if it is in stock at that particular location.
I don't know if the prescribing doctor made the error or if the pharmacy advised him as to conversion rates????? but your new rx is wrong. The dosage should have been the same as for your original Naturethroid prescription. Users who are finally able to get and use the 'new' Naturethroid are reporting that it has a somewhat sweet taste and is dissolving beautifully when used sublingually (dissolving in the mouth) so not your normal Naturethroid now.
Thanks so much Clutter and Phoeniz23002! This has turned into a very annoying experience. LOL! Sigh... I just called my doc and they're the ones who messed up. Unfortunately, my doc's office is going through a transition (practice taken over by another group) at the same time as I'm trying to figure out all this out. Thank goodness I Googled the conversion rates, otherwise I would've been taking the wrong dose for who knows how long.
I was able to get Naturethroid consistently until the very recent past, which doesn't make much sense, since it seemed like my experience should have been the reverse given what I read about their lab and production. Not sure why I could get WP yesterday. I think the pharmacies are just throwing up their hands and saying "out of stock" in some cases instead of pursuing the ordering - which would be consistent with what you noted on the US group.
CVS Caremark is my PBM, so I'm going to try mail order through them vs. dealing with the individual Walgreen's stores. Healthcare in the US is enough to drive you to drink
Soulcat.. You are very fortunate that you were able to get Naturethroid for such a long time. I am in the states... VA... and some here are going into panic mode because they can't fill their Naturethroid prescriptions. They are turning to alternatives... NP by Acella and/or Armour instead of the Naturethroid. It sounds like you have checked out RLC Labs website for the latest news on Naturethroid and WP. So.... availability should be improving. I had stocked up on my WP last year so have been lucky in being able to avoid the shortage.
I'm in US too . And my pharmacist who does miracles can not get me Nature-Throid . Instead I got NP by Acella . NP has fillers that bothers me . Some patients who where lucky enough to get some Nature-Throid from the new batch complained that they where getting headaches muscle pain . But that after being on it for a few weeks it seemed to subside . I find that very interesting . They are patients that where all along dosing with Nature -Throid or WP RLC .
jgelliss... Supposedly, Armour attempted to purchase the company/source of USP thyroid extract, the extract that is used by most NDT manufacturers. Rumor was that Armour intended to hike the price of the NDT to exorbitant heights. RLC Labs, refusing to be held hostage, searched for another source of this NDT extract and, finding it, then had to experiment incorporating this new NDT extract into their product line. RLC swears that they have not changed their formulation and this may be true. But there may be some who are having trouble adjusting to the 'new' WP and Naturethroid. It seems we will all have to wait and see how things shake out.
I'm afraid we have no choice but wait and see patiently while we bite our nails . So far they are not up to speed with most if not all dosages . I heard so many stories about RLC I wonder if we will ever know the truth . I miss and love Nature-Throid . I learned that next time I will need to stock pile for the just incase times like these . We have enough on our plates to contend with . We don't need more added stress . PLEASE !!!
I called RLC a few times and the voice message machine answers . They must be hounded with lots of callers . Everyone wants to know when they can expect Nature-Throid and WP back fully stocked . I for one can not blame the callers .
Yes, it's all super stressful and it seems like we're having inconsistent experiences throughout the states. I wasn't unable to get NP, which I was going to try in lieu of Nature-Throid. Now looking at CVS online, I think my doc's office messed up my prescription AGAIN. Arrrgghh. Deep breaths... LOL!
I had been taking WP, did well on it, but it has become unavailable in the U.S. I started taking NT........losing hair like crazy! I called Walgreens to see if they might have WP. I was told they have a generic of WP, very same thing she said. So, I ask for a prescription from my doctor, he questioned whether there was a generic for WP. I picked the prescription, and on the label, says Nature-Throid. I’m not happy about this, as I understand it, they are two different drugs. I will be calling Walgreens tomorrow. She assured me they are the very same thing......I don’t think so. No one here can say when WP will become available again. I was even going to go back to Armour, no availability on that one either. In this area, choices are NT or Nature-Throid. Has anyone taken WP & Nature-Throid?
Currently on first week of Nature Thyroid. So it’s a bit early but at the moment it seeems to be ok. Not seeing any difference between this and WP. My only issue is an allergic reaction I’m dealing with.
But that started before going over to Nature Thyroid. Stopped whilst taking steroids but has returned since stopping.
