So following on from my recent thread I had my first appointment with the endo yesterday evening and I think it went okay. (Basic history is I've been diagnosed hypo since the age of 21, am now 38, and on 125mg of levo - still have lots of hypo symptoms despite the levo and diagnosed 18 months ago with fibromyalgia).
I've just had a blood test that he ordered this morning (went at 9am as he wanted to check cortisol) and I think most things are being covered. He's checking FT3, FT4, TSH, Vit D, B12, magnesium, iron, cortisol, folate and kidney function, which was most of the things I asked for so I'm fairly happy with that. I've also completed a salivia test that I've paid for myself to check cortisol and I should get results for that this week but I thought it wouldn't hurt to get cortisol double checked in my blood work.
He said that 100% I have hashimotos but is not checking thyroid antibodies and he said the reason for that was even if they came back negative he would still be diagnosing hashi's as I have other auto immune disorders and I became hypothyroid at such a young age (21) so I'm not sure if that's good or bad really!
I think he feels that I need a trial of T3, which I was pushing for, so I'm hoping I'll get that despite what the blood work comes back with. He definitely prescribes T3 and is happy to trial it so I think that's a start. I guess without any blood work there's not too much info to be gained on that first appointment.
I'm booked in next Friday AM to get results and hopefully start on T3. I'm going to ring his secretary to ask for a print out of all bloods and lab ranges to be given to me at the next appointment so I know what to do next.
