Would welcome comments on my Blood Test.

I asked my GP what my December (hospital endo) blood test results were.

At the time I was on 100mcg Levo, 20mcg T3

TSH 0.01

Free T4 12

Total T3 1.3

Free T3 3.3

The last time I had these following was May 2011:

Ferritin 167

B12 663

Folate 13

I have been exhausted, achy - in fact the whole bag, until 3 weeks ago when the Levo was dropped and the T3 upped to 60mcg. I feel as though I might be getting some energy back, starting to feel much better. In a week's time the T3 will go up to 80mcg.

GP wants to do blood test in 5 weeks, as that is when I will be in touch with Dr Skinner again, and also all the T4 should be out of my system by then. I have asked her to do a Vit D as well ("nobody has that" she said).

Any thoughts welcome, thanks.

Jenni

Hi Your TSH is low but fine, the other tests not really able to say much as all ranges different and you have not got them, Normally on treatment T4 needs to be top third of range and FT3 near the top. It depends on how you feel too. B12 I think is quite high in range, so, if so fine On same bases ferritin probably high enough too.My GP only does my vit D in the whole practice, however any way takes 3 weeks and I have to have it every 6 weeks., so do not do it that way. For the cheapest test there is City, or one advertised through Healthspan on line, That is only £24 and they also do some sort of calcium test. If you are low in D ( hormonal) then you need a corrected calcium est before any treatment, repeat tests 3months. This test sounds as if it covers this. You also need Glucose test, autoimmune and hormonal. What a rare GP who actually works with Dr. S Always have a print out with ranges, vary Lab to Lab.

Best wishes,

Jackie .

Thank you Jackie, this is reassuring - I asked her what the results were and just wrote down what she told me, never thought to ask for the whole thing. When I go in 5 weeks time for the next blood test. I'll ask for copies.

I know how lucky I am that she does not refuse to follow his protocols.

Yes, It is always good to keep them. Ask for a print out with ranges, from the receptionist when they are back form the Lab, most things a few days.. After a GP in the practice has checked them, sometimes not too carefully!.

Best wishes,

Jackie
