Just letting you know how I got on when I went to see Dr B D P yesterday.

Such a good doctor wish I had seen him years ago.

He knows his stuff.

He told me my Adrenals are extremely fatigued and I can recover if I follow his health plan he said most of it I have been doing through lovely Scottish ladies guidance and was pleased about that.

Dr. B D P was well pleased when told him about getting kangaroo steaks and gluten free meals he wrote down where I got it from. Kezie foods LOL.

I remember doctors like him from when I was a child they listened to their patients and absorbed what they were saying.

How many doctors have the confidence to say by following his health plan "I should never have to see him again " just to keep in close contact by phone.

I felt such a fool when he got me too close my eyes and stand to attention so to speak and fell over sideway.

He said I was right to be on readisorb and should stay on it for life because I am vitamin B12 deficient.

Dr B D P is a caring sympathetic and understanding man and looks so well he's been on armour all his life and has never had to have any blood tests done.

Which he explains in his book called How to keep your thyroid healthy.

He said he has worked with professors to help him.

He doesn't agree with ME he says ME fybromyalgia CFS are adrenal fatigue and thyroid related.

He advised me getting serenity cream eco balance because of going through change.

Dr. B D P highly recommends thyrocomplex.

His health plan for me is as follows - this may not be the same for everyone:

STAGE ONE.

Stick to T3 at 10 for 10 days continue with NAX but increase to two by end of week then following week 3 and next week 4.

STAGE TWO.

By end of next week I can increase T3 to 20 and later experiment with more. (He said my body will let me know and until adrenals are repaired any thyroid treatment would struggle).

STAGE THREE

Continue on Vit D3, redisorb, magnesium , selenium, thyrocomplex 1 daily, serenity cream, ecobalance.

Treatment diary I have to fill in and send to him every three weeks.

Get oestrogen and progesterone test done and candida he's given me a filled in paperwork to post to genova diagnostics.

He said that there is strong evidence that candida is linked to being a fungus and can cause cancer and that it is important to kill it off. He recommended Ecobalance for that.

He also said that you can test yourself with the water test where by spitting in a glass of water first thing in the morning leave it for 24 hours if there are white strings appearing that is indicative of having candida.

His diagnosis says:

For whatever reason your thyroid started slowing down in 2007 most probably because of your weakened immune system and on top of that the stress of the house situation.

Extra stress has weakened your adrenal function which shows a considerable degree of fatigue.

Your endo which are lucky to find one that suggested with you the use of T3. This has improved things, your processing of of uptake of T4 has been running down much because of your adrenal fatigue.

Quite rightly your adrenal function has been identified as failing and you have started the NAX.

But you must do this right. The NAX has to be built up to an effective level so that you can take the increased amount of T3 without any side effects.

The links he gave me for the free booklet on Serenity Well springs trading progeterone.co.uk Tel 01481233370

Nutri Ltd Freephone 0800212742 email orders@nutri.co.uk

I highly recommend seeing him he will put you on the correct path to heal your adrenals and eventually your thyroid will function correctly.

This information is vital for repairing adrenals that have become fatigued through T4 not not converting.

I hope this information helps all thyroid sufferers get on the right path to recovery.

I would also like to share with you my husband was with me and he was very impressed by Dr. B D P his adrenals have taken a hammering for many years being a who dares wins man and has worked in many conflicted countries.

Also the past 12 years has worked in Libya and co ordinating the evacuation of ex pats (I myself one of them at the time the conflict began) as a security HSC and continues to work there which is a very stressful and demanding job under the circumstances. He took everything Dr B D P ob board and entered in to treating his adrenals.

I would also like to share with you over the weekend my husband met up with the ministry of defence adviser MP Patrick Mercer and spent the weekend with him.

My husband was in the army with before he became an MP.

My husband spoke to him about the controversial issues concerning thyroid sufferers treatment and importance of how the matter must be taken seriously.

The MP did say that he would speak to the health minister about it.

We will see what comes of it the MP did say he will get back in touch with my husband.

At least them above will know we are coming so to speak.

Love and Peace Kerry.

There is some debate about taking adrenal complexes for weakened adrenals. For example another school of thought is that the adrenal tissues require T3 to begin to raise the production of cortisol which wakes us up in the morning. Paul Robinson, a scientist, has done a huge amount of research and personal experimentation treating exhausted adrenals using the Circadian T3 Method, or CT3M, and apparently this works extremely well for many people.

I suppose what I wanted to say is that Dr P is lovely - like many people using this site I have also been treated by him - but he does not hold all the answers. I was well for quite a few months under his regime but suffered a relapse, and have come to realise that for me Dr P was the first and most important step on the road to self-management of this wicked illness. Dr P himself works with his patients to this end - for them to become self-experts and make him redundant. A most generous man.

I see you started to use the site in February - this is the best place to work all this out. After my relapses I found this site and now have a growing understanding of what is happening and why, building on the foundations that Dr P gave me. It took months and months! So it is with feeling I wish you all the best as you start your journey and I genuinely hope that Dr P provides you with the complete 'cure', or ability to manage your health.

I saw Dr P too, and he also diagnosed me with adrenal problems. Personally I didn't get on with the adrenal supplements but have really improved with Paul Robinson's CT3M. I do follow the other things that Dr P told me - eg vit C, coenzyme q10, etc. and have finally managed to raise Armour to 3 grains. Dr P is very good but i don't think he has embraced the CT3M yet. Good luck with your new regime :) xx

Hi Clarebear, Can't take T4 at all, trialled T3 and have finally had to come off that too - at least for a good while. This situation makes it impossible, nay unwise to even consider Paul's CT3M system. So what is someone in that position to do? I know I have adrenal fatigue though cortisol blood test inc synatchens, all normal. Guess they only show something when addisons is present. Other tests saliva, temp chart, eye sensitivity, Dr Wilson's questionnaire indicate upper end of moderate to severe fatigue. NHS don't accept it??? Sorry for moan. x

Clarebear profile image
Clarebear in reply tosnowstorm

Sorry your treatment isn't going well at the moment - what works does seem to be so individual. Did you try CT3M? I found I very hard to tolerate any Armour until I adopted this protocol. I also had low ferritin and getting this up seems to have really helped too. Xx

where can you get CT3M?

Kezzerb profile image
Kezzerb in reply tosnowstorm

Snowstorm you sound like you are like me who cannot tolerate T4 at all and never will be able to. I understand that there are people that cannot get on with NAX. It is early days for me I have only been on it a week but I am prepared to follow Dr P's health plan with T3 NAX and thyro complex. Dr P did say to me to take it easy and rest as it is possible to crash. It also interesting that having candida alot of the symptoms are similar to thyroid. Perhaps all thyroid sufferers should be tested for candida also. I had the synacthen test came back normal did the Genova saliva test came back non advanced very low cortisol. Not good. If I had not got off T4 for sure I would of been on my way out as it was my body was failing rapidly. Thank you for your kind comment I choose to help sufferers the best I can. I do not have all the answers it took me some time to grasp the understanding of not converting from T4 to T3 all I know is the T4 was killing me and poisoning me for 4 years. So if you cannot tolerate T4 avoid anything with it in it. This is why Dr P advised me to take thyro complex. Hugs Kerry

Many thanks. That is exactly how I felt - T4 was killing me. Will have to wait and see what the visit to Addenbrooks will bring. Being referred for laboured breathing along with several others. My ling capacity is of someone 20 years younger & have 99% O2 in blood so no problems there. Heart excellent. Thyroid meds have alot to answer for. xxx

That IS strange.

I have Sub ClinicalHypoThyroid and also asthma starting creep in on me. I've aleays suffered with Dysnea [air hunger too] In the week i had a lung function check due to persistent cough [triggered by dudt inhalation]. My result was like yours 17 years younger and oxygen was good tested a while back by light through finger. The new GP is quite thorough and a change from previous.

She encouraged me to pursue tests privately on top of what new Endo was doing and I found my RevT3 to be 90 times over limit!!

The Endo has previously told me he doesn'tr believe in RT3 or Wisons etc so I have a fight coming up next week.

I'm just going to ask in writing- if refused , to be cleared for a T3 trial at some point [when adrenals OK?] so the GP has a pathway open. They [surgery]will not give it otherwise.

Interestingly, I read an article recently that said that Asthma was 90% successfully treated using ,what?- Thyroid meds prior to the mass medical amnesia when Synthroid[Levo] appeared on the scene -to make a lot of happy investors in Pharma rather rich!

This is so interesting! I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism 12 yrs ago, but only began really having trouble 3 - 4.5 yrs ago (hard to tell, as it was mixed up with new-baby fatigue). I've had 4 miscarriages in the last 17 months, which I think are linked to the autoimmune dysfunction that is causing my hypothyroidism (though this theory is as yet medically unconfirmed). After my 2nd and 4th miscarriages, I've had what I can only classify as energy crises. I think my adrenals are fatigued (NO energy, trouble rousing myself in the morning, feeling like sleeping after the slightest exertion), but I've also been having very "thyroidy" symptoms (achy throat, hormonal/emotional feeling without any emotional trigger, extremely dry skin, dry hair, cold sensitivity). My TSH continues to test within the "normal range" (how I loathe that term), at around 1.73 in a range of 0.2 to 4-point-something, and I've been unable to get a lab to test the other 2 parameters, even though my endocrinologist specifically wrote my GP to advise it (he also suggested getting my TSH under 1, but the GP is uninterested in changing my dose, as per earlier reference to that cursed "normal" test result). I've been trying to figure out the right person/people to see and was heartened to read of Dr. BDP, but now it sounds like Paul Robinson is worth researching. Is he a medical doctor? Where does he practice? Has anyone here heard of The Review Clinic, or had any experience with the 2 doctors there (a Prof. K-M S and a Dr. D O'F)? They are said to take a holistic approach, and do each consultation together to brainstorm and put 2 heads together, so to speak....

Paul isn't a doctor but a fellow thyroid patient who has written a book about T3. Here is a link to his website:

Hello Kerry, Thank you so very much for that. Again someone saying that adrenals must be working at full capacity before thyroid medication begins and also continue to be supported whilst medication continues.

I have written to by MP, who wrote to Jeremy Hunt and then replied to me enclosing MR Hunts letter. Be warned it will give you the Departments postion and say (most likely) that medical boards have their own guidelines and that it is their intent that patients recover whilst on T4 etc etc etc. I have replied to y MPs letter with more information so it will be interesting to see what develops.

I believe if more people write to their MPs, who in turn write to Mr Hunt, the message MUST get through that all is far from well in the thyroid world.

Snowstorm I did see your letter and yes it was very good and yes you did receive the standard letter back. However like I said because my husband advised MP on other issues concerning military affairs he also included the seriousness of our dilemma but also how it effects forces members too where adrenal fatigue is concerned.

Breeny profile image
Breeny in reply tosnowstorm

Hi Snowstorm, Well done for writing to your MP, it certainly can't do any harm. Raising awareness is key to any potential improvements in our testing and treatment! Just thought I'd post this link... I know it's in Scotland but lots of interesting info and if this petition goes anywhere it might create a knock-on effect for other countries...

Hi Kerry,

Thanks for posting in order to help others who are still struggling along without appropriate support. Dr P helped me very much and gave me the confidence to continue to help myself. He is a lovely man, but I feel that he is a firefighter - he gets people up and functioning and then they have to sometimes do a bit of investigating themselves - he empowers his patients. He genuinely wants to help, doesn't he, and that is what made me feel really safe when we saw him. Good luck with your recovery.

General point: The CT3M is great if you have adrenal fatigue, but if your adrenals are in greater trouble they just can't produce enough cortisol irrespective of the amount of T3 put into the system to help them. In those cases people need to provide other adrenal support or replacement hormones such as HC - so be careful.

The CT3M helped my moderate adrenal fatigue but my son, who has very low cortisol production all day, (due to a congenital adrenal condition) was incapable of being helped by it - it is not a panacea for adrenal issues. We are individuals and our health issues need to be treated in an individual way.

Good luck to all of you.

Thank you all for your comments. I will endeavour to answer the all over the next few days. One issue I would like to raise out of a matter of concern. I understood that to protect doctors their names were not to be used. Admin can you please clarify this. Dr P is a very caring and really good advocate that supports all thyroid sufferers. He has had his fair share of being put through the wringer I would hate for him to have to suffer.

Clarebear profile image
Clarebear in reply toKezzerb

Dr P and dr S are very much on the radar already, so it's fine to name them. Dr P retired rather than face the fight with the gmc, so he is no longer registered, but is still able to help his patients by diagnosing them an pointing them in the direction of appropriate treatment. Xx

molliemdz profile image
molliemdz in reply toClarebear

I've missed the reference to Dr. S in this thread, who is he(/she)? I'm worried that I might already know....

Clarebear profile image
Clarebear in reply tomolliemdz

Dr S is Dr Skinner, a great thyroid doctor who is hounded by the GMC, as they don like him treating people with "normal" test results, or his use of natural desiccated thyroid. X

Where is Dr. P and how can I contact him please? Thanks!

kezzerb thanks for this timely post. I will have synacthen test next week. Nhs Endo is not keen on prescribing T3. He told me I was concentrating too much on thyroid and that there are many other hormones involved!!?

We could have told him that. It is so frustrating as years ago when I asked for adrenal check was refused (private test not recognised). Now I ask for T3 and get the adrenals checked. Hey Ho Could be getting somewhere but not sure where.

If all the blood tests being taken next week do not show anything conclusive and treatable under NHS. I will have to see Dr Peatfield or follow his regimen in the book.

Dr Peatfield was suspended by the GMC at the time I was trying to consult him years ago.

I have concerns for a relative in a similar position to your husbands and hope to comprehend all this information for the benefit of both of us.

Hi Kezzerb, Thanks for posting this to help others. I'm looking for advice from anyone in a similar position as I too have seen Dr. P and sadly cannot contact him for advice due to him being in hospital...

I was advised to stop my Levo for 10 days and on day 9 start NAX. He advised me to start Nutri Thyroid on day 11. I felt happy with his plan but not so much on the nutri thyroid after reading about it. I opted to follow his treatment plan but to start NDT at 1/2 grain instead of the Nutri Thyroid. I felt a little boost in the first few days but now into week 2 of the NDT/NAX and feel so so tired! I am concerned, after reading Dr. P's book that I started NDT too quickly and am potentially stressing my adrenals.

Does anyone have any thoughts???

Thank you, Breeny x

I'm planning to see Dr DP soon having had very little joy with NHS.The last 'Endo' was very poor and no thyroid specialist by his own admission. Amazing that it is an admitted poor relation in Endo land , yet fundamental to all body processes bar none.

Glad to hear your positive story from last year, though - what reports on the MP feedback, if any??

Hi Kerry,

I did a post today asking for opinions on Dr Peatfield. Nobody has replied as yet so I did a search and found your post which made very interesting and positive reading. I was wondering if you would have time to let me know how you are now? Unfortunately things are no better in the health service regarding thyroid treatment. I have/am having a nightmare with Endocrinologist and to a lesser extent my GP. I have an appointment to see Dr Peatfield on Monday but was quite hesitant because he isn't a registered doctor and ongoing I would have to buy all my medication. I decided that might be a small price to pay and also if he recommends trying T3 again at least I know my GP will prescribe it.

I hope all is going well for you and hope to hear back. Caroline
