I have suffered with IBS since for 35 years and the pain was always on the left hand side and lower bowel. Had alternating constipation and diarrhoea but managed with occasional use of fybogel. For the last couple of years however have had terrible upper abdomen pain and bloating too. Have had gastroscopy, bowel cancer screening and coeliac and ovarian cancer blood tests - all negative. Can no longer tolerate any form of fibre and Fybogel is definitely a no no. Am on immune suppressants for rheumatoid disease so wonder if it is a side effect and wonder if IBS just gets worse with age. So, no fibre means constipated all the time now and have been given Laxido but am nervous of taking it. Any advice would be welcome .

Sorry I don't think I'm much help, I'm IBS-c & get desperate wind, but fybogel wasn't available recently & was given laxido instead. Worked ok for a couple of days, then about day 4 BMs got very soft & squelchy, (sorry TMI!) every time I had a wee I went, so very uncomfortable & also very time consuming.
It could have been coincidence but don't think I'll use it again. You could try it for 1 day, if ok have a break for say 2 days then try again with a break?
Or as you say maybe it's the existing medication, does the leaflet give any clues?
Laxido better than fybrogel as not fibre. Start with it gradually, only one sachet every other day and see how it is. If you are too loose, then try half a sachet
