So, its been over 5 weeks from ive had a bowel movement. I currently take laxido twice a day, 20ml lactoluse and 5mg dulcolax longterm, but it isnt working for me. Ive even tried increasing my dose of laxido to the dose for fecal impaction and im still constipated.
Ive used micralax enemas 3 times in past week and still nothing.
I was wondering if anyone can recommend anything that i can try,? I dont want to go back to GP if i can help it.
Thanks.

5 weeks is quite long I found to many laxatives make the bowel lazy and suppositorys never work for me think a&e would be your best bet good luck x
Hi Charlotte, I’m so sorry that you are going through this sweetheart, you must be in pure agony and hell, have you tried Movicol sachets ? Let us know how you go. Xxxxx
Do u mean five weeks since normal bowel movement, not no movement?I agree with all the advice below
movicol is the best , try one or two sachets .... the ingredients are pretty much the same as what they give you for emptying befire a colonoscopy, just smaller scale.
Once you’v Talked to your doctor and have some help, 2 kiwis a day have helped me stay very regular. I also suffered from severe constipation . Also I take Miralax twice a day. Your life must be misery. Good luck with a doctor!
I make homemade smoothie for my 1st drink/ meal of the day helps me once I Got in the habit of having ever day as a regular thing, mine is made up of tablespoon of flaxseed (which I find helpful for my ibs constipation) added to make a home made smoothie of cold almond milk or lactose Free milk, avocado, blueberries, 1 tbl spoon of chia seeds, spoon of MCT oil, sunflower pumpkin seeds & frozen spinach pieces. It sounds a lot but I get 2 smoothies out of kne mix.
I suffer terribly with constipation but along with drinking plenty of water, especially with having flaxseed, the morning smoothie does tend to help me more than laxido & other things but do drink plenty of water as it is important. I would always go at least a week or longer when My ibs flares but this has helped me but more than anything g but then everyone is different so what works for one may not work for another unfortunately. I Hope you have been by now and have some comfort hood this helps x
Just to add though as I mentioned everyone is different and I No lots of people are fine with movicol, but Iv had the movicol albeit a bit stronger as before my colonoscopys and always been terrible while having that prep but I always just thought it was normal reaction to it. But my last one was the worst experience with it ever, I will never have it again, i was in so much abdominal pain and it burnt the skin off my poor derrière, I was on the loo constantly I couldn’t even lie down for more than a minute before having to return to the loo again this went on for hours even just before leaving home for my colonoscopy, the colonoscopy itself was more bearable than the movicol prep and i get both lower & upper bowel checked so they go higher up into the bowel which gets a bit uncomfy but il never accept that one again after last time x
i take magnesium citrate liquid and it is the only thing that works. last night i just started drinking so much water and that helped so much. i have been having so much trapped gas.
