If it's 14 days since your last bowel movement your rectum will be very impacted with hard stool. A couple of glycerin suppositories or a micro enema may shift this for you.
I find Cleanseamore by RenewLife works for me. I only need to take 1 capsule but you can take up to 2 at night. I highly recommend this capsule and I have tried so many recommended items and this one really works. I have an underactive thyroid gland and I get a pain in the bottom left hand side of my stomach when I'm not regular.
I have a smoothie made of oats water, fruits/spinach and empty a capsule of probiotic and capsule of digestive enzyme into the mix to keep me regular. I think you need a strong laxative to clear you out first if been blocked for several days.
You take them with food and they aid digestion. You can get them in any good health food shop. I use "Viridian" High Potency Digestive Aid and found they have made a big difference to processing of food and keeping me regular. I too used to suffer with constipation of 10 + days and I found the smoothie I mentioned earlier (no yoghurt or milk) really has made a difference to an easy passage!!! The oats give it a good thick consistency once whizzed up with water and the fruits.
Hi I agree with Grannycake, about a heaped table spoon of either milled flaxseed or chia seeds soaked in water over night, ( the chia helps me the most, but it is not very pleasant, a bit lumpy, also these two products are gentle on the tummy ). It can take a couple of weeks or more some times to feel the benefit. Hope you feel better soon.
A nutritionist did explain it to me, but quite a while ago, so I can't really remember, the soaked seeds form a kind of slippery gel, which I believe helps gently to get things moving again. It is best to drink lots of water through the day with this, but I guess we all do that, as we are always being told to do!!
Hi the seeds are not a very strong laxative, as others have suggested that you do need some thing stronger to clear your system, then perhaps try them for a while.
Is calfig fig syrup? Does it have a lot of sugar? I want something i can have regularly that's not gonna change my sugar intake (which is partly why i don't like prunes)
If you still haven't had a BM by now I would go and get medical advise. Failing that take Movical ,more than 1. I think you can take up to 6 sachets at one time.
Figs do work very well. I remember my mother giving me syrup of figs if she thought I wasn't active enough in that direction.
You are right to be anxious about this condition as you will read. There is another aticle on this subject on the same site.
Principally you need to adjust your diet to include a good dose of fibre as one correspondent has already mentioned. Organic wheat bran splinkled lightly on each meal will certainly help in the early days. Also get on to the proper wholemeal bread not that supermarket stuff. I use the recipe at: healthscams.org.uk/bake-you... and NEVER buy bread.
I think I replied to you before about taking about 800 - 1200mg of magnesium citrate. Did you try that? If you have chronic constipation as I have, fibre etc won't help alone.
Yes you did - The thing is when i first tried magnesium i only needed 200-400mg a night and then it just stopped working at all.. 🤔 is 1200mg a safe dose?! sounds like a lot x
