Hi, I have been having issues for ages with pooping, but over the last few weeks it has been quite bad all the time, I feel constipated but go 2/3 times a day and it’s normal poops just small and thin, but never feels like I am finished, over the weekend I am really very uncomfortable my tummy feels so tight and painful low down and high up almost under my ribs is really painful, I look pregnant and just feel rubbish chills fatigue and nausea I’ve been drinking lots of water tried some caffeine and had prunes as it feels like loads just needs to come out but it’s not, is there anything else I can do any advise would be massively appreciated xx

Hi Joules83,

I get the exact same feeling of this tightness under my ribs! I think, after a lot of elimination that it may be to do with trapped wind or inflammation from certain foods I’m eating - try googling exercises to help release trapped wind. Sitting down for long periods of time makes it so much worse - i try walking and keeping the bowels moving. I also recommend doing a food intolerance test - ive done all the doctors routes (endoscopy, ct scan, ultrasound) and nothings come up so I got put on the FODMPA diet (no gluten/ lactose/ etc) and helped for a bit but now back to bad pain under rib cage and feeling of needing loo. So now I’m getting a blood test to see if it is food intolerance. Hope this helps! Charlie

Hi joules83

I used to have a lot of what i call episodes were my IBS played up. Ive identified what sets me off and keep an eye on how much of those foods i eat so ive managed it for the passed couple of years! Not having half the amount of episodes these days - i drink something called slimmatee - its a herbal tea, i allow it to cool a lot as i prefer it like that but it helps keep me regular, i drink one over two days as ive found having a full one in one day keeps me in the bathroom!

I also find massaging my abdomen helps

Its worth a try!

You need to take a high amount of magnesium citrate or oxide. About 800 to 1200mg. I have had Ibs c almost my whole life and am now in my fifties. This is the best natural supplement to take for this condition and I have tried many. Even my consultant recommended it. I take it every day. You must take it on an empty stomach just before bed with lots of water. I would start with a high dose initially just to clear you out. Even if it means taking a few capsules. I sometimes take 6 200mg capsules. Capsules are the best not tablets and it has to be citrate or oxide as these are the ones that work for constipation. There is a lot of information about constipation and magnesium on the internet. There is a site called Ibs tales that discusses this. The ones I take are either Now foods Magnesium citrate, Solgar Magnesium Citrate or Life extensions. I get mine from the US on a site called iHerb, but you can get them on Amazon. There are other magnesium oxide products specifically for colon cleansing called Mag 07, Colosan and Oxypowder. They are a bit expensive but are amazing. I use these in between. No cramps no bloating, just relief. You can get these on Amazon as well. Don't suffer any longer. By the way I also follow a low fodmap diet through a dietician but this alone does not help constipation.

I do yoga for constipation. It seems to help and as I think someone already stated, massage tummy in a clockwise motion.

I do yoga too, but does nothing for stubborn constipation.
