I have been suffering with constipation since June 2018 which had progressively got worse to the point fybrogel, Sennecot, suppositories, warm water and enemas do not help. This constipation has gradually got worse and I hadnt completed a bowel movement for 3 weeks.
I went to the doctors and they prescribed me with Laxido which although shifted a minor stool has now left me with severe stomach cramps , bloating, nausea and lack of appetite. I take it In 3 sachets in 3 separate occasions as suggested by the doctor. I also only pass watery stool with minor stool which appears extremely soft in texture and requires no effort to pass- it pretty much falls out. Not a lot of this leaves my body also.
Sorry for the tmi!! Is this normal? What should I do?
Any help or advice is appreciated !

I was terribly constipated during a spell in hospital which resulted in my having both suppositories and an enema before I was discharged, but it returned once home even though I was on Laxido.
I took Dulcolax and Senna tablets with no effect so I resorted to using Dulcolax suppositories and after two separate doses they cleared me out. I now take Fybogel once a day alternating with Macrogol, which is the same as Laxido and this works for me.
Stomach cramps and griping seem par for the course with Macrogol/Laxido that’s why I alternate with Fybogel.
I mustn’t get constipated because of spinal and gynaecology problems, but stress brings on my IBS and causes constipation.
This is why I mostly take Fybogel and only Macrogol say once a month or so, hopefully when I have had my ‘female down below’ problems sorted out I may not need it at all.
Hi,
There was a post on here a few days ago about fasting and how it helps with constipation problems. Have a look through, it'll be easy to find as it's got the word 'fasting' in the heading. There are quite a few replies including mine.
Hi, I'm sorry to hear you are not feeling well..I too suffer from severe and chronic constipation..for decades. Doctor's always want to prescribe Miralax..but it makes me cramp badly and if I do manage to go..it's sticky and messy stools, with lots of straining still, Laxido or also known as Movicol, PEG, Miralax, GoLytely..Has a black box warning on it on FDA website. "You can just google "Miralax black box safety". It also smells like glue. It's sad Gastros and Doctors presribe this like candy..even to children as it is known to cause autism. Luckily I use Senna..have for decades and it still works..but I am careful to only use it once a week to "clear me out" because Fiber or Fiber Supplements make stool too bulky and I can't pass them, so I am on low fiber diet. I take 4 1/2 8.6 mg tablets on a Saturday night. Not a great way to live, as I can't have a bowel movement most weeks, even on stool softeners that do very little. Senna and strong instant black coffee with 6 packs of Stevia in each mug is the only thing that sadly works. Have you tried Lactulose? Or the small bottles of Magnesium Citrate? I think Lactulose is prescribed but it only takes 3 hours to work..and Magnesium Citrate, you can get over the counter. Much better than that awful Miralax..someone mentioned fasting, but I don't think good idea unless you are having a colonoscopy done or blood work..
I care for my stepfather who got compacted, and he was prescribed laxido , 10 sachets on day 1, 8 on day 2 and 6 a day until things got back to normal. He's not got IBS so maybe this is why the quantities are different but I'm guessing its worth asking again and the watery bit may be what's termed as overflow. I do hope you find something to help you !
