colonoscopy today

Been waiting for months following some pretty severe problems this year.

Long periods of D and then back to C. Pain in night between ribs as if someone had pinched me in stomach sometimes with hot flushes, pain under ribs on right after eating.

Weight loss and shivers which all according to internet indicate something awful.....

Had totally convinced myself something terrible would be found on colonoscopy.

It wasn't thank goodness .,,,,, I still have to wait for results of biopsies taken as matter of course.

I am convinced the worry added to my problems and it spiralled out of control. I just kept thinking this can't just be down to my IBS. However it probably is.

Back to FODMAP tomorrow which seems to be helping.

Fingers crossed the biopsies come back clear and the low FODMAP keeps helping you. If you think the stress of the worry made your digestive symptoms worse, you might want to think about hypnotherapy recordings - I read that hypnotherapy and low FODMAP are the two most successful techniques for treating IBS, and one-to-one hypnotherapy is horrendously expensive of course but the recordings are more affordable. I didn't think my IBS is stress related but tried Michael Mahoney's recordings anyhow just in case I was wrong - they didn't help my digestive symptoms but they were delightfully relaxing, and one of the sessions was geared at getting some control over speeding up or slowing down the digestive system as required, so if you swing between constipation and diarrhoea maybe that could be helpful for you. I had a question about one of the sessions, and Michael Mahoney got back to me with a personal reply about it within 24 hours; I was really impressed by that.

Hi, I hope your results are good news when you get them. I just saw you say you get symptoms quite like mine, fevers and flushes and pain, the fevers and nausea are my worst symptoms but of course there is a mirriad of other things.

Dont be shy to even cut things out of the FODMAP diet to if they're not right for you, i myself am gluten, dairy, caffeen, alcohol, and dark meat free, even wont eat salmon and olive oil dosnt agree with me so i use Rice oils instead.

Anyway, good luck in your journey :)

Thanks never thought about olive oil. I tend to use coconut oil but also use olive oil. I have really reduced caffeine and think that makes a difference.

Hello please don't worry its really nothing. I went for sedation and was fine. I didn't like the prep the night before and found it hard to get down as its such a lot to drink. I had a glass of the stuff then a drink of flavoured water which helped. They will ask you the time you began and the time you finished your last drink. Be prepared because I was literally passing water most of the time. Stay close to the loo. I had finished going by midnight but was a little weary as had early start to get to hospital. The procedure is a bit uncomfortable in part but nothing bad. You are full of wind after so that's uncomfortable. I just went to bed,had a sleep and felt much more comfortable when I woke up. I had an ultrasound years ago and that was just a camera sliding over my stomach but I am not sure if that;s what you are having. If so that's absolutely nothing. Hope all goes well. Please don't worry about the colonoscopy.
