Tired. Feel like giving up the battle.

This is my first post here. I signed up yesterday.

I've been battling this shit for 10 months now. I've been more or less home bound because of it. For 10 months. I've been struggling with varying conditions during this period. At first, it was suspected SIBO. Antibiotics got rid of it, and I was happy. But recently - or should I say - 5 months prior, I started belching. Wasn't a problem much because apart from the belching, I could eat. My appetite was there. I knew I had some sort of indigestion problem, but I didn't know what caused it, and didn't bother much with it.

I would like to state that I started taking a multivitamin that contained the ingredient calcium carbonate for calcium supplementation prior to all these burping problems. 5 months ago I wasn't aware of the ingredients in my multi. Now as I look back, I slap myself for having taken a multi that contains a freaking *antacid* within. for those unaware, calcium carbonate is an antacid, and many idiot companies add that as calcium in your multivitamins.

So I've been taking that for 5 months, and I find my stomach becoming weaker - I.e less acidic/has less acid to digest food especially proteins. I belch a hell lot these past 2 months, and have more or less lost my appetite. I look at food like it's an enemy now. I have to force myself to eat, and it's hard. It really is. And I'm skinny enough.

I'm tired, both physically as well as mentally. I thought I have recovered from SIBO, and that I could regain my life back after 5 months.. Who knows, I caused myself to have low stomach acid, and now it's a whole new set of stomach issues. I burp too much, have constant stomach bloat/gas and I can't eat. Zero appetite, basically.

I don't know how much Betaine HCL can do for me, really. My system is far too weak. I burp even though I take 3 of it before meals. And I don't even eat that much for my stupid stomach to digest. Where does all the gas come from???!

I'm also taking zinc sulphate liquid, and b vitamins, because I read they produce stomach acid.

I don't know what else I can do. I kind of feel like letting my body go into starvation mode, because I'm hardly ever hungry anymore. You know? And just die.

Hi junel3,

So sorry for your problems and even sorrier that you seem to be at a really low point in dealing with them. Many of us on here have been in the same place at one time or another and this is a great site to be on for all sorts of info and, sometimes, just to let off steam about how crappy life is!

There's a very good product called Gastrazyme which is really effective for the issues you're describing. It worked brilliantly for me when I had a duodenal ulcer (now gone) and no prescription meds made any difference. It soothes inflammation of the stomach lining and corrects the level of stomach acid. When I first took it I was told to ignore the directions on the label (which state 1 tab after meals) and took 3 before bedtime, a further 3 in the morning and one after meals. I did this for a week and then went on to 1 tab 3 x daily. I now only take it if I start burping overmuch again (sometimes after just a sip of plain water) and things clear up again within a couple of days.

A friend of mine with the same issues takes raw, organic apple cider vinegar (it should contain the mother) - 3 tbsps in water first thing in the morning - and this works brilliantly for her.

I get Gastrazyme from revital.co.uk and, according to my pal, one of the best apple cider vinegars comes from ostlerscidermill.co.uk

Hope this helps you.
