So I had a really awful headache and took an anadin extra tablet and now my stomach is churning, I've also got acid reflux, nausea, gas and stomach ache! Does anyone know what may help me? I'm desperate to feel better! I can't believe one small tablet could make me feel so terrible! Thanks in advance!

Hi Emmy,

Sorry you feel so grim, but if you get reflux, aspirin just shouldn't be on your menu - same for ibuprofen. Have you got any prescription meds for it?

Hi cat, thanks for your reply! It's my own fault really, my head was absolutely killing and so i was desperate and thought one tablet would be okay, well I was very wrong! I have lansoprezole for my acid and take Imodium. There's not many decent pain killers that are easy on the stomach it seems, do you know of any?

I take 15mg co-codamol (3 - 4 tablets a day) for spinal pain and the only problem I sometimes have with those is that I can't always empty my bowel fully so take Dulcolax a couple of times a week as well.

You're right though, I don't think there's a pain killer out there that doesn't have a bit of an adverse effect one end or the other!

I reccommend paracetamol or cocodamol - others will upset your tummy. Drink lots of water. X

I think your right there!

In my experience with similar medication I found that the caffeine caused me to feel similar.

So I would just take paracetamol or co-codamol avoiding any tablets that contain caffeine.

Hey thanks for your reply! Yes perhaps it's also the caffeine, usually I only take paracetamol but was so desperate because of my head, silly mistake. I think your right, I'll just try co-codamol instead especially after yesterday. My stomach still feels horrid today so definitely not worth it!

Hope it helps, don’t ignore that effects of too much codeine, if you have ibs c.

I actually have IBS-D so codiene will hopefully help my stomach!

I get tummy pains with nearly all tablets I don't know if theres something in them or the coating that affects me it's rough, I find a big water bottle a great help with tummy pains.

Yea I'm the same unless it's just plain paracetamol! Every night I'm glued to my hot water bottle!

Re nausea, I take a travel sick tablet and it works for me. I find nausea one of the worst things, hope you are feeling better now.

Hi crazyfitness, just wondering what travel sickness tablets you take as I get a lot of nausea too? Maureen.

in reply toMaureen1958

Hi Maureen, sorry for the delay in my reply, I haven't been on the computer for a while. I take Stugeron and they work really well for me.

All the very best.

Hi Alicia, I'll check it out with my doctor as I take beta blockers for high blood pressure. Thanks for that. Maureen.

in reply toMaureen1958

You should be absolutely fine with them as my husband is on blood pressure tablets and he can take Stugeron.

Also, if you would rather look at something different around a teaspoon of cider vinegar mixed with around 3/4 teaspoons of honey also works for me. My father swore by this many years ago and it doesn't taste bad either. The other remedy was brandy and lovage, that also worked well.

Thanks. The brandy and lovage sound interesting!

It certainly works :)

God tell me about it! The nausea for me is the symptom I find hardest to deal with and for me it's usually at night and first thing in the morning! Have you tried sea bands? It's just acupressure but they help a bit I think! Do you get acid reflux at all?

in reply toEmmy-89

I can put up with anything else apart from nausea, I hate it and am emetophobic as well so that doesn't help. Although I am working my way through the Thrive Programme and have just got to the end of chapter 4, I will beat this stupid phobia :)

Alicia

paracetamol are good if anadin causes problems. Put this down to experience as you know not to use anadin type products again if they make you poorly.
