I have been suffering with a grumbling stomach and lots of flatulence for around 4-5 months now. I have been taking windeze which helps initially but then it just comes back again. I have a lot of burping and if I press just below my rib cage I can make myself burp and also lots of other wind from the other end. It doesn't seem to matter what I eat or don't eat. I have also suffered from IBS for around 30 years but have not had this before. I went to have a chat to a pharmacist and they said I should go to the doctors, but I just thought I would post here first.
Anyone any thoughts or ideas?

I just read that "[t]here are dozens of... reasons you might develop a bloated stomach — allergies, hormonal imbalances, thyroid dysfunction, gut troubles and more. It might seem hard to narrow down the culprit, but the more information you can gather about your reactions to different foods and circumstances, the better idea you’ll have as to what triggers your symptoms.
Bloating itself is usually a problem with digestion," but you probably already know that.
I hope it helps you. I have been suffering from IBS-C, with bloating and the accompanying wind for years, but I am getting better. Avoiding most gluten based products, eating cleaner whole foods, drinking plenty of water, taking a good probiotic, and taking a milk thistle supplement has helped me.
I want to add that I avoid sugar and artificial sweeteners, most fats (I use olive oil and coconut oil.), and avoid chemicals such as those found in processed foods, corn, wheat, and barley products. I eat fresh or steamed veggies, fresh fruit, grass-fed beef, chicken, and wild-caught fish, rice, and oats. I use a bit of raw honey to sweeten my porridge. Bone broth soup is wonderful for healing and soothing your intestines/colon.
I feel for you, I have had this problem on & off for most of my life. I have recently been referred to a dietician by my GP. My dietician has now put me on the FODMAP diet for 8 weeks and I have never felt better in my whole life. I am learning what foods I can tolerate and soon I will be guided in the re-introduction of some more foods that I may be able to tolerate. Speak to your GP and get refered as it is very difficult to follow the FODMAP diet without support and the relief is almost instant.
Thank you dandscats, I did follow the FODMAP diet a few years ago through my doctor and a dietician but at the time I did not have any of these extra symptoms. I think I kind of follow the same principles anyway even though I am not 100% strict on it now.
Perhaps you have SIBO (small intestinal bacterial overgrowth)? A similar thing happened to me after many years of IBS. Low fodmaps helped a lot but getting SIBO tested & treated (with herbal supplements) worked wonders. Good luck
First I was tested by a nutritionist & then she recommended a course of natural anti-biotics including grapefruit seed extract & oregano. You need expert advice, don't try to go it alone as the supplements are very strong.
Thanks for your reply. I've looked up Milk Thistle and there is a warning about possible oestrogen effects. Any ideas about how to find a reputable Nutritionist? IS there a national register?
This this seems to be a world wide problem. First of all hanks to everyone for your responses and advices, may our good Lord bless you all. Keep up the good work.
I also suffer from too much gas for almost two years now. I use milk thistle supplement and omega herbal 48 it helps a lot.
