CKD at age 39
Hi everyone, so I’m a male at the age of 39, I have CKD. My GFR is 23.4, is there anything I can do to raise my GFR numbers, Lower my Creatinine level? I workout 6 days a week, I’m on a low sodium diet, and only consume around 60-90 grams of protein a day.

Next step regarding underactive thyroid
Hi all, I hope everyone is staying safe. I am looking for some advice regarding next steps with an underactive thyroid (previous post below which I received great feedback on). I have seen no improvement in symptoms since the end of March (last blood results). I have continued on the same dosage of thyroxine

Carbs and inflammation
I had been weirdly regretful that I wasn't suffering from inflammation previously, so I wasn't able to rejoice in it going away with low carb. I have eaten very carby meals on about 4 occasions in the last 18 months, with no apparent side effects. Until last night, when I was sat in front of a plate

Weight gain
Can anyone explain to me in simple terms why, if you are hypo, there is weight gain? My weight seems to be galloping away and I don’t seem to have any control whatsoever. I have been through periods of practically starving myself to prove a point with very little weight loss. It’s becoming a bit of

Red/Infrared light therapy - any short term side effects?
For those of you using red/infrared light therapy, did you have any short-term (or long-term) side effects? Yesterday was my first day using the duo coronet light therapy and I did both a morning and evening session. It's pretty comfortable and easy to use. However, I had a dull headache all day,

Red light Therapy for rls
I am 75 and have had quite bad rls for about ten years. For three weeks I have continued to take high dose magnesium (600 mg) plus shining my Beurer IL 50 infrared heat lamp on my legs for 8 minutes every second night. This takes rls symptoms away. Is this a placebo effect or is there some solid science

Diet - my story so far!
When diagnosed with PMR...within 2 months I was diagnosed prediabetic. I was already overweight from steroids for lung issues a few years ago, and hadn't been able to shift the excess. I went onto the keto diet, while on 15mg steroids. I lost a stone in 7 weeks but as soon as I stopped it it went back

Photobiomodulation aka light therapy article in The Weekend Australian
I know several people on this forum have light helmets - some from Tasmania. This article appeared in my FB feed. There was also an article in The Weekend Australian but I believe that to be behind a pay wall. https://surfershealth.com.au/news/2021/05/20/groundbreaking-trial-finds-that-infrared-light-therapy-for-parkinsons-disease-reduces-symptoms-and-improves-the-gut-microbiome

Low carb road in the hole (2)
Just tried subtle badger's idea for toad in the hole as Yorkshire puddings instead. Doubled the quantities and cooked in muffin tins. Made 6 (very) large ones. Surprisingly delicious and felt like a real treat for Sunday dinner. Give them a go!

Gluten-free diet
I’ve been told to try a gluten-free diet but most gluten free foods have rice flour in them which I can’t have either. What should I do?

Insulin and prednisolone problems
How do I manage my blood sugars on Prednisolone at 15 mg per day. I am a type 2 diabetic on insulin injections 4 times a day, plus Metformin 2 gms. My blood sugar levels are astronomical in spite of a low carb diet and exercise. Prior to my PMR diagnosis 7 months ago I was attending my gym 3 times per

What's your goal for 2021 health wise? How are you going to there? Inspiration post!
Hi Everyone! :) I thought we could inspire each other to reach our big and small health goals- not necessarily related to Hashi! 1.I'm finally at my ideal weight so maintaining that is my goal number 1 2.My sleep has suffered horribly so improving that is strong runner up! Trying different techniques

Do any of you have intermittent ataxia episodes that come on only after eating a meal?
I believe I have gluten-sensitivity ataxia, but none of my three doctors (naturopath, general practitioner, kidney specialist) have heard of it, so am continuing a gluten-free diet. I had a test for gluten sensitivity a few years ago, which was negative; my naturopath told me the test showed I didn't

Weird feeling in toes and wobbly walking
This last year of the pandemic I’ve not addressed some things I should have what with the many difficulties. Things have piled up and I’m trying to sort them out one a a time. One thing is this issue with my toes. When I flex them it feels sort of strange, like they are “crunching”. Seems

IBS, headaches and diabetes
Hi I have been suffering with headaches for awhile now and it seems to be linked to whenever I eat sweet foods. I stopped eating sweet foods last week and headaches went away. I wondered if this is a sign of diabetes? I struggle to eat a healthy diet as most healthy foods flare up IBS D. I wanted to
