Help My mom was diagnosed with PBC and we need answers if anyone can help.
Hi everyone my mom is 72 years old and was diagnosed with PBC in January of 2013. She has little to no systems at this time. However last month according to her ultrasound it read the liver showed mild cirrhosis. Can anyone tell us once the cirrhosis shows in the liver does it progress fast or is it

Loose bowels on Urso. How long does it last?
Good afternoon from the USA, or night in the UK. I started URSO on Monday ( I take 1200 mgs daily) two in the morning and two at night. I seem to have tolerated pretty well so far. I have a hiatal hernia so I was concerned with acid reflux which I already treat. I knew I would probably have loose

PBCers dietary advice??
Hi me again! I'm relatively new to all this still. Started URSO 4 months ago, LFTS are almost in normal range.I have no symptoms. I am just wondering if a particular diet is recommended in PBC? When I have asked my registrar he just says a healthy balanced diet but hasn't been specific about anything

Hi, I have been told that raised ALT is associated with AIH/PBC overlap and not pure PBC.Does anyone have PBC and have raised ALT? Thanks
I have been on URSO since jan 2014 following positive AMA and raised ALP of 135. ALT has been around 60 for a year and after 6 weeks on URSO came down to 40. My ALP came down to 99. 6 weeks further on ALT is now up to 50. My specialist had said in March that he was happy that the ALT was coming down

Greetings from the US and a relatively newly diagnosed BPC patient
First a bit about how the US and UK differ: US - we have PCP (Primary Care Physicians). UK - GPs. US - normally, a PCP catches something suspicious in your blood work and refers you to a specialist. In the US, you must be 'board certified' to call yourself a specialist. Currently, you can be board

Good news and bad news - PBC is under control and continues to respond well to URSO. AIH not so great ALT levels continue to be raised so it's double up on steroids and back in a month. Hey ho life goes on with fingers crossed. Thanks to Peridot and 2006 for your support and words of encouragement x

Here is Website for lab requirements to determine PBC
Found it. Go to Www.arupconsult.com. Type in PBC. Take it from there. Lists REPEAT- guidelines etc. All there on this site. As I said initially was diagnosed in hospital when admitted with fever chills sweating back pain etc. I had it for days - they did an AMA then and determined I had PBC when

I now know!
Hi ladies It seems that I do indeed have PBC! But very early stage! My liver auto antibody profile is M2 ++ positive 3E (BPO) ++ positive Mitochondrial Abs ++ positive I'm relieved at the results. He's referring me to a Hepotologist to discuss biopsy, and I've opted not to start urso as my lfts are

WRONG PBC DIAGNOSIS
Admitted to hospital in September - chills sweats back pain fever did all tests from gallbladder to liver found nothing. Dr. did AMA test. Said had PBC. Gave urso. Went for further testing a few months later at another doctor specialist in March. And found I did not have PBC! Tests should be re confirmed

Portal hypertensive gastropathy
Does any one else have portal hypertensive gastropathy? I have looked at google and not much other than the basics.Could this be the reason I get a lot of upper stomach pains and pain in the region of the liver and spleen. Also just had my first week of Urso, so far so good? IF I was unlucky to have

Is it normal for ALP levels to fluctuate?
I was diagnosed with pbc in December on the basis of AMA and liver biopsy (liver function tests have always been normal). I am not yet on URSO. My lft results today show all levels within normal range but ALP has gone from 54 up to 73 (normal is up to 135). Does anyone know is this sort of fluctuation

Fatigue with normal LTF's
So, I have had 3 very good blood results....NORMAL.....yes normal, so the steroids, urso and mercaptopurine are doing their job ( AIH/PBC), but I am fatigued, overweight which I was not before, cold all the time, I don't sleep well and many more. Is it normal to feel so unwell with normal liver function
