Pred and painkillers
Hi all Can you tell me what painkillers are safe to take with Pred. Is ibuprofen and aspirin off limits and if so what do you suggest for general aches and pains. Many thanks.

accidently took only one 1mg pill prednisone yesterday am, felt good all day
This am made sure I took 3mg. I am thinking of trying to alternate at 2 and 3 mg daily now in a few days. I am a tiny bit stiffer feeling this am than usual. I have also mostly stopped the Ibuprofen and substituting 3 aspirins. Think since it thins the blood might help with hand circulation.

DE and higher risk of pre-eclampsia?
hi all, I am venturing down the DE route for a sibling and I’m now nearly 43 but thankfully had a healthy IVF pregnancy with my son when I was 40/41. The consultant briefly mentioned an elevated risk of high blood pressure with DE but did not say pre-eclampsia and now I have researched a little it

My urine smells very strong on HU?
Hi everyone, I’ve noticed that my urine is quite strong smelling since I’ve been on Hydrea. I’m on a low dose to start, 500mg every 2nd day with a daily aspirin. I’m 61 and I started taking HU on the 30th May 2023 so almost 3 months. I don’t think it’s my imagination…. 🤔 My daily liquid intake hasn

Baby aspirin
Hi. I’m currently 10 weeks pregnant via IVF and after my first blood test via midwife, I’ve had a call from my Drs and been asked to take 75mg x2 aspirin from week 12 as the midwife has requested it? Does anyone know why this would be? Or anyone took similar? I’ve heard of 1 x 75mg a day but not

Looking for advice on skin abnormality
Hi everyone. Hoping someone can offer some advice on a mark I have found on my shin just above my ankle. I first noticed it less than a week ago, just before the weekend as about the size of a pin head, very red so it stood out. No lump, no itching, not hot - just a tiny very red mark. But over the

Anyone been prescribed cyclophosphamide as a steroid sparer?
My friends father has had a terrible time. Had a PET CT and they never got back to him. A month later had blood clots in one leg and ruptured aortic aneurysm. Operated on in the night. Then a month later was in hospital again with diverticulitis and kidney issues. They put him on methotrexate and

HAS ANYBODY HAD THEIR ASPIRIN & CLOPIDOGREL STOPPED IN FAVOUR OF NOAC (New Oral Coagulants) ??
This is my situation. Following recent tests and Holter testing, my Cardiac Consultant feels one of the NOAC's : Apixaban/Rivaroxaban/Dabigatran, new generation anticoagulants, would offer me better protection against a further stroke than my current medication of 5 years standing. (Aspirin 75mgs and

haematoma -update
As suggested, I got in touch with my haem who told me to go immediately to the hospital. I didn't see her face- to- face but was seen first by a junior doctor and then had a blood test. She reported back to the haem, sending photos. The outcome was I have a course (3 days) of Tranexamic Acid (2000 mg

What to do ….
Warning - long post! I’m not sure what I’m really asking here, or if I’m just looking for a sounding board. At my appointment last month my haematologist told me my ET had now changed to MF, after a bmb and NSG testing. He also said I had markers for high risk for leukaemia. I didn’t ask what the markers

Newly diagnosed angina
Just recently been diagnosed with angina after an episode of pain while running up a hill. I'd always thought the shoulder pain was connected to my brachial plexus pain, which was also diagnosed at same time (had it for years) and I was prescribed Gabapentin for this. The thing is this then cleared

Haematoma
I have ET and at my last blood test (2 months ago) my platelets were well-controlled at 459. In the past I had an occlusion of a vein in my left eye (2016) and have lost sight in the central panel, and last year I had blood clots in both lungs as a result of which my daily 75 mg aspirin was augmented

Minoca heart attack
Hi there, I am new to this world but would be grateful for some insight to help my mum. A week ago mum was admitted to hospital for what they are saying is Minoca. ECG and troponin levels showed this, and subsequent angiogram 4 days later showed no obstructions etc. Dr cardiologist discharged mum saying

Random question to you all….I have ET, I’m on Pegasys and have been for a few years, I also take aspirin. This year I’ve been bitten a lot (I have always been a tasty meal for little bugs!) and whilst I try not to scratch the bites we all know that sometimes it’s not possible. I’ve found that my skin
