Japanese Stem cell trial: Reply to my question by Jun Takahashi (team lead)

In addition, it is delayed because of COVID-19. So it will take a couple of year until we can publish the results. I am

In a sense, I view myself fortunate to have been diagnosed in 2004. When surgery [RP] was not successful (nor salvage radiation) it was suggested that I begin

The Uric Acid Failure: Lessons Learned
RR = relative risk
Lesson one: Association ≠ Causation!
Mistaking association for causation is a major source of medical misunderstanding. It comes with real consequences, as we shall see. Observational studies can only find associations. Proving causation requires interventional studies

Near infra red light therapy for Parkinson's and Alzheimers
I hope all are well, I finished my near infra red light therapy helmet. I am not diagnosed but have all the signs of developing parkinson's at 58 except the tremor so I am trying to be proactive. I added a pwm controller from Amazon that pulses the light at 40 hz which is seen as the most therapeutic

Rheumy does not believe vitamin K is useful
Just got back from my first rheumy appointment. I grilled him about all sorts if things including should I take Vitamin K with my calcium. He said there is no evidence to suggest that it has any use as there have been no "blind clinical trials". I told him I had read it on this forum and he said "people

MSA with Ambroxol HCL - a tentative success story!
Final edit update! Writing this 13/2/23. While our success with early ambroxol looked positive, her disease progression continued. At this point my guess is that it affects downstream symptoms, but only clinical trials will be able to say if it slows progression. Also, although it did greatly improve

Managed access for Lu 177
Managed access is like compassionate care and for men that have tried all other available options. It is for those that have runout of treatments. It is a clinical trial through Novartis. Our oncologist requested the drug and once Jim had the PSMA scan, Novartis approved the use. The delay comes next

Sites for Lu PSMA Early Access Program
Disappointing news today. Got my PSMA scan Friday, which showed intermediate to high PSMA expression. Got MRI yesterday to confirm no central nervous system lesions. Ready to sign the informed consent form, and start Lu PSMA treatment. However, found the wait for treatment in the early access

Efficacy and Safety of Once Weekly Thyroxine as Compared to Daily Thyroxine in Managing Primary Hypothyroidism: A Systematic Review +
Over the years there have been many mentions of the possibility of once-a-week dosing with levothyroxine. I have always found it questionable. Seemed to be justified solely for the convenience of the person attending the patient - such as a district nurse. Last sentence of conclusion: [i]Hence, OWT

The “C” word is now being used by prominent oncologists
This past week I’ve heard the word “cure” used twice for the first time in my 9+ year battle with metastatic prostate cancer. Two prominent research oncologists used this word…one of whom is my oncologist at MD Anderson Cancer Center, the other is a colleague in the same department. It’s all about immunotherapy
