Surgery August 6
Ryan had his surgery at 9AM this morning.. still feel like I’m in a huge “unknown” bubble. The bone was taken; and soft tissue surrounding it was involved too. The tumor was surrounding his PIN nerve compressing it completely. By this morning none of Ryan’s fingers would move on his right hand. Surgeon

Dream Week and indecipherable (to me) pathology report
I spent the most wonderful week that I have experienced in years at the beach with my family. Daughter, son-in-law, granddaughter, son, girlfriend, and wife together for a solid week. My expectations were high, and they were exceeded. It was special for so many reasons. We all live in the same city,

Good morning sir!
I had my first batch of infusions yesterday for the CHAMP clinical trial out of Duke led by Dr. Andrew Armstrong. It's a hellava long infusion, premeds, nivolumab, ipilimumab, cabazitaxel, and carboplatin - with gaps in between for observation. I had no odd side effects besides a brief 1 minute flush

PMR and Covid-19 vaccine
Three days after having my first Astra-Zeneca jab I developed extreme muscle aches in my thighs. These aches rapidly became acute and have spread to my upper arms. Subsequent blood tests showed elevated inflammation markers and a preliminary diagnosis of PMR followed. When I suggested to my GP in Spain

Treatment naïve and clinical trials
Treatment naïve and clinical trials.... I am asking this question for a friend. Does anyone here know of anyone who is treatment naïve who has entered into a clinical trial? Some folks who have opted to treat a cancer diagnosis "alternatively"may at some point be interested in entering a clinical trial

CAR-T follow-up at City of Hope for Prostate Cancer to Bone
They pulled me back into City of Hope hospital with high Iron levels after a CAR-T discharge from hospital. Treatment started working, lowering my PSA from 60 to 50, but high Ferritin (Iron) hit 6000 indicated t-cells could start attacking non-cancer places it shouldn't attack. Dr calmed it down with

Clinical trial Icon9 - thank you for your replies
Thank you so to Mumsie13, Maria, Jane, Annie at Ovacome Support, Tillymint, Sheila and Sara for your very useful and considerate replies and I now understand a lot more about the trial. Your comments have made me think about about the practicalities of being on the trial in a way that had not occurred

Opicapone: A third generation COMT inhibitor
Opicapone is used once daily as adjunctive to levodopa/carbidopa to reduce “off” periods in patients with Parkinson’s disease. • In clinical trials BIPARK I and II, 50 mg of opicapone once daily was shown to be noninferior to entacapone and reduced the mean off time by about 50 min when compared to

90th American Thyroid Association Meeting
The American Thyroid Association is holding its annual meeting as a virtual event on September 30th- October 3rd. This item is interesting, It shows that in the US and certain members in the UK that a basic change is being talked about regarding the value of FT3 in diagnosis and T3 or related T3-substitutes

Oral SERD trial - 1st result
When Ibrance and Fulvestrant stopped working -- 2 new mets, and old one avid -- I went into a clinical trial for an oral SERD (same mechanism as Fulvestrant, blocking estrogen receptors). The one I am on is put out by Zeno Pharmaceuticals; trial is called n-c5-0001. I take a daily capsule on empty stomach
