I had my first batch of infusions yesterday for the CHAMP clinical trial out of Duke led by Dr. Andrew Armstrong. It's a hellava long infusion, premeds, nivolumab, ipilimumab, cabazitaxel, and carboplatin - with gaps in between for observation. I had no odd side effects besides a brief 1 minute flush feeling on the back of my neck. Total 7 hours.

Of course the steroids they gave me with the infusion kept me awake much of the night, but eventually got a few hours of sleep.

To my surprise, I woke up with an erection! That has not happened since I donated my balls to the hazardous waste bin. I certainly did not see that in the 10 pages of side effects I had to initial but what the heck! I'll take some good with the bad.

That is a long Infusion. Hope you see beneficial results. I have an appointment at Duke this week I will inquire about the trial. Good Luck!

Great trial! It takes advantage of the important synergy between immunotherapy and chemo. It's especially important to get that immunotherapy during the pandemic. I hope it's tolerable for you.
