Kidney failure to dialysis to Transplant and beyond
My husband was diagnosed with Kidney failure 11 hears ago, he was on dialysis for almost 7 years. He got transplant few years ago and is doing much better now. It is tough experience and part of your life, just remember that every day and every hour is different so take a moment at a time. Ask for support

Kidney failure and the quacks...
Quacks are the people who are not qualified doctors. There are thousands of them in my country. Once they focus on your pocket, they will try to finish it soon. Friends be careful. When I had this problem for the first time, I tried many online quacks. They looted my pocket and complicated my problem

My dad has kidney failure
Hi everyone. My Dad had an aneurysm in February and alot of his large bowel and gallbladder removed whilst in surgery. He spent 6 weeks in ITU where his kidneys needed filtering a few times. There was talk of dialysis but then the kidneys started to improve on their own. Fast forward 4 weeks and my dad

GFR 8
My husbands GFR is going down and he’s pushing dialysis off. His GFR went from 8.0 to 7.8 in 2 weeks. So is his GFR really still 8? Thanks for your time.

How does Covid recovery differ -please read
Further to my telephone conference call with NHS staff. I have to stress that what I am stating here is largely anecdotal amongst a specific critical care network in U.K. This is also my interpretation and I have no medical training - I do have a subjective understanding of my condition & recovery thereafter

Blood filter may calm the cytokine storm of COVID-19.
Cytokine storms created by COVID-19 are causing major organ destruction and death, and for the first time in the United States, when patients begin to show signs of trouble, physicians are replacing the usual filter in a kidney dialysis machine with a filter known to trap these tiny proteins, with the

Icu delirium and not sleeping ?
My dad was taken off sedation on Thursday, after 31 days in induced coma with covid . He was well enough for a FaceTime call Friday and although upsetting he recognised us and had two tears running down his face. Since then he really suffered with this icu delirium and seems to be fighting his sleep

Preparing for a new chapter
Hello everyone, I’m not use to being on forums but I feel so lost and alone, I don’t know who else to turn to. I’m 28 years old and the oldest daughter of my family. We recently found out my mom (52) is at her end stage of renal disease. She just had a catheter inserted to prepare for Peritoneal Dialysis

Mom vs. Covid-19
My mom caught the virus shortly before she was to be discharged from rehab center after a terrible spinal infection. A few days after her positive test result, they sent her to the hospital to give her the best chance possible. At first she had no symptoms but once at the hospital she was placed in ICU

Covid: back at square one
So apparently the nurse was a little bit wrong about her findings. We spoke with two doctors (definitely not calling the nurse ever again) and they told us she still not responding to anything except moving her eyes... 😔 The neurologist said the covid could have affected a neuron or something. It could

Dad not waking up after turning sedation off
My dad is on the vent for 2 weeks and trachy on the 3rd week because of COVID. His oxygen and sats are up and down, but they are stable now. He’s had dialysis and filter as his kidney wasn’t functioning well. They already turned the sedation off and I think this is the second day, he’s not waking up

Covid: Not conscious but dispatched from the ICU
So yeah after 29 long days on the ICU my mom has been released from the ICU. I really don't know how I feel about that because even though she's awake she's not conscious (15 days after the sedation was stopped). Meaning she's not communicating at all. I'm afraid, honestly. Afraid something happens and

Intradialytic Hypertension?
Has anyone else been diagnosed with Intradialytic Hypertension? If so, what did you do to manage it or mitigate it? I'm aware that peritoneal dialysis doesn't have this complication. Thanks. https://www.ajkd.org/article/S0272-6386(09)01145-7/pdf Intradialytic Hypertension: A Less-Recognized Cardiovascular

Covid 19 and struggling to wake from sedation without Sat's going wild
Hi my father in law is in icu with covid 19. This is his 30th day in an induced coma. We thought we was going to lose him over the weekend as his trach had started bleeding into his lungs. Thankfully they have stopped the bleed. Everytime they try and wake him from sedation all his SAT's go all over

A miracle for mom
Update on my mom so the doctors are giving us any hope My mom’s been into baited 21 days so now they want to takeoff of that and put a tracheotomy tube because they can’t keep her on the ventilator too long. So she’s getting dialysis has infections and her BP is up and down. They did act scan because

MIRICLE FOR MOM
So my brother just called me that my moms been intubated for 21 days and they can't keep her intubated for that long. They need permission to do a put tracheostomy tube. She still has blood in her brain but is not bleeding. They're putting a new Catheter because they need to give her dialysis again.

Co-vid 19 - third week in ICU for Mum
My Mum has been in ICU ventilated, and at some points on dialysis, for 17 days now. She is off antibiotics and medicine for her blood pressure at the moment. Last week she seemed to be making some progress on being weaned from the ventilation and sedation, but the doctors now seems to think they will
