So my brother just called me that my moms been intubated for 21 days and they can't keep her intubated for that long. They need permission to do a put tracheostomy tube. She still has blood in her brain but is not bleeding. They're putting a new Catheter because they need to give her dialysis again. They had took off the other one to give her body rest but it's time to give her dialysis again. She's on two antibiotics and her Blood pressure is low. It's low then high then low. I don't know I'm just going to continue praying and asking God to heal her because she is very sick and I still believe in a miracle. Anyone else going through something similar that can shed some light.?
Thanks.

My blood pressure went up and down, up and down - I think when you are that ill everything is in a mess. My circulation took months to sort itself out. When they change the lines and catheters which happens every few days ( to reduce infections through these) - this may also cause the body stress and this might cause a spike in blood pressure.
Oh my heart goes out to you in this horribly difficult time.
Not sure if this will be any help but I have a somewhat similar situation right now. My dad is covid positive, also in ICU, low BP, high HR, fever, intubated after blood clots. He’s not on dialysis, but it was in question after he suffered complications from the blood clots and emergency surgery. His kidney function is improving, thank God.
Do you know if your mom is on blood thinners, could that be contributing to the low BP? Do you know if she is on pressers to help with the low BP? Were the antibiotics for a secondary infection? Does she have a fever? Maybe that is causing BP fluctuations? How is her heart rate? How about D-Dimer level, any evidence of any clot formation?
They’ve thinned my dad’s blood with standard anticoagulants but then needed to use TPA, which is a strong clot buster that can cause bleeds. His bleed is hopefully caused by TPA- this is causing low BP, and high HR bc his heart has to work extra hard to compensate for lower blood volume. They’re transfusing him with one unit of blood to help make up some of that volume. They have him on pressers in the meantime as well. Hoping that once the TPA runs its course, his bleed will heal and his BP will stabilize a bit more.
I wish there was something more I could say, but I don’t have any answers other than to share my experience and be with you in solidarity. Have faith, and continue to be strong.
