Why can't I lose weight.
I have Hashimoto's
thyroiditis
(underactive thyroid.) I'm a vegetarian on a gluten free diet (I'm a 62 year old female.) My last print out showed a slight weight gain over 3 months, a small loss of visceral fat and 10 cm off my waist. My BMI has dropped from 31 to 28.

Grateful for any advice
The results were that I had positive ANA antibodies, anti-Ro antibodies, positive anti-adrenal antibodies, fibrotic
thyroiditis
and Hashimotos. He didn't want to increase my dose of Levo until I'd been to a Lupus specialist. I did this and all of the above was confirmed.

Auto immune gastritis
I read recently (can't remember where) that although quite rare (ish) incidence rates of gastritis are higher with people who have autoimmune
thyroiditis
. What are the symptoms and what (if any) is the treatment? Many thanks Jane

Variation in the biochemical response to l-thyroxine therapy and relationship with peripheral thyroid hormone conversion efficiency
We studied 353 patients on steady-state l-T4 replacement for autoimmune
thyroiditis
or after surgery for malignant or benign thyroid disease. Peripheral deiodinase activity was calculated as a measure of T4-T3 conversion efficiency.

Advice of results and symptoms please
A scan did revealed nodules but nothing sinister and I was fobbed off with a 'bit of
thyroiditis
that will probably go away'. However the 'lump endo' did comment that my T4 was boarder line low with a normal TSH and asked me to see 'the other endo department' and investigate.

Hi everyone, I am 40 & was DX last year with autoimmune
thyroiditis
. I am now up to 100 mg of levo which seem's to be my optimal dose. My TSH at DX was 14 & now It's 1.6, the lowest it has been since DX.

Research-it-yourself: PubMed Introduction
Your search terms could be a number of words hashimoto
thyroiditis
selenium or whatever you are interested in. Or the title of a paper. Or the authors of a paper. Every word of every paper is indexed. Try to type them correctly otherwise you might not find what you are looking for.

daughter has acne- any link to hypothyroid?
She is on levothyroxoine following Hashimotos
thyroiditis
4 years ago. Looking at bigger picture, I wonder if it might be hormonal cause - perhaps elevated androgens. Maybe she should have a blood test before she goes away and gets referred to a dermatologist before she goes away again?

Blood Test Results - Help
The positive thyroid peroxidase antibody result however increase the risk of developing autoimmune
thyroiditis
. So, do I stop taking the Armour NDT and go back to Levo and then back to the doctors?

Hashimoto thyroiditis
Hi, A couple of years ago, I was diagnosed with Hashimoto
thyroiditis
but back then, due to my age and lack of symptoms, I was not advised to start any therapy. Over the past years, I have become symptomatic, I have been feeling unwell.

Finding the root cause
I realize there's a chicken-and-egg argument that can be pursued regarding Hashimoto's
thyroiditis
/hypothyroidism, but I've always believed that it had to start from somewhere, and it may not be just one factor but multiple contributing factors that have led to Hashimoto's.

Advice for a 15 year old boy with gynaecomastia, delayed puberty, goitre and thyroiditis please
I'm not sure if I've come to the right place but I am beyond desperate to get help for my son. So here goes... I first took my son to see a paediatric endocrinologist last September as he was becoming increasingly distressed over his "moobs" and lack of development. Although he was growing he felt
