Hypothyroid or Menopause
I had a partial thyroidectomy done 20 years ago for an overactive thyroid My hormone levels have stayed within the normal range all these years but after a recent blood test my doctor advised that the levels were a bit on the low side and prescribed 25mg of Eltroxin daily. I don't feel any different

"thyroid epidemic" in the west of ireland....
according to a pharmacist i was talking to the other day...i live i Co Mayo, on the west coast of Ireland. He told me that any doctor in this part of Ireland will tell you that there is an unusually high incidence of hypothyroidism. Eltroxin is the top prescribed drug, he reckons...he said second to

Elevated TSH, FT4 high, FT3 "out of range" any ideas????
Hi all, My recent blood work shows my TSH is elevated at 5.89 (5.5 being the high end of range) my FT4 21.9 (9-22) and my FT3 came back as "High, out of range" no numbers/ ranges. My GP is trying to get these. My TPO is 978. Any ideas???? I'm being sent home with a pat on the back and nothing more.

Eltroxin/Mercury Pharma debate
Thought I'd give an update on my stopping MP generic levo after Eltroxin was withdrawn. It has been just over a week of not taking 50mcgs MP levo. My t4 levels via MP levo have obviously dropped slowly. And, I have carefully and slowly introduced in 1/4 gr increments, an additional grain of NDT

My body responds differently to different brands of thyroid hormone.
I know everyone says they're all the same but definitely the first brand I was put on 4 years ago gave me stomach cramps (as I see some other people have experienced) and I change then went back on them and the same thing happened. Now I've borrowed some pills from my friend in place of Eltroxin and

Stomach Problems caused by Levo?
I have recently noticed that about 10mns after taking levothyroxine I get a burning in my stomach throat and mouth. I also get lots of rumbling sounds and feel very hungry. I take the meds correctly- empty stomach and with plenty of water. I don't think I got as severe symptoms when I took the brand

How long for eltroxin to work?
Hi all, I have been on eltroxin 50mcg for five months. I felt an effect within days of taking it. My stamina improved and I felt I had come out of a coma. However the physical tiredness has lingered. I have aches and pains in my hands and feet on the last three months and am having lots of trouble

After 2 months struggling with the Mercury Pharma alternative. I collected the prescription yesterday and whoopee Eltroxin it is. Of course my pharmacist could be a miracle worker.

Tpo "through the roof"
Hi all...my I have hashimotos and have been struggling lately. I have also been recently been diagnosed with pernicious anaemia with thanks to a wonderful member from here :) In a nutshell I've been feeling pretty cr*p lately, a lot I figured was down to my b12 deficiency. However, my blood tests came

Side effects
Hi guys, my very first post. Be nice :-) I have an underactive thyroid, and am taking Eltroxin. I took one tablet every day for 2 years, then because of a misunderstanding with my GP, i stopped taking them altogether. My Doc retired, and i went to see my new GP about an unrelated issue, and the Eltroxin

Stopping medication
In 2002 I had a partial thyroidectomy and started Eltroxin about one year later. I am finding the switch from Eltroxin to a different thyroid medication difficult and am wondering if my thyroid function has improved. How do I do this? Just stop my meds and see the results at my next blood test in 2

Buying in Levothyroxine from abroad, some help in tracking please
Hi, thought I understood this totally when I left the Endo earlier, now I realise that I possibly don't...brain fog me?..nah! Right, he explained the difference between Eltroxin and Mercury Pharmacy's brands - despite the compound being identical, it's that Eltroxin is a slow release and that is what

I have recently started on the generic levo from Mercury Pharma after being on Eltroxin for 30 years and some of the tablets are crumbling
The last two boxes I have had, have had a couple of tablets in each box that have turned to dust as I have pushed them out of the bubble, this is not acceptable and I was wondering who to complain to, the pharmacist, the doctor or mercury pharma. Has any one else had this problem? They cant be of very
