What a month!
After admission the surgeon came with his gaggle of students and told me I had 2 choices- an NG tube or
surgery
(both of which I respectfully declined) After glaring at me he said "of course it's your choice!" and flounced off.

I have a complicated medical history. my main conditions to date are Takayasus Arteritis (autoimmune vasculitis condition), pulmonary Embolisms, and open heart
surgery
with mechanical valve fitted. I take many medications to keep this all in check!

Been put on trimbow
Had a phone call from the
surgery
pharmacy team who suggested I try trimbow. I did explain my concerns about the anticholinergic bit as I had a rough time trying Spiriva in November and December last year - incredibly dry mouth that didn't get better and sinus infections.

Should one asymptomatic and isolated AF episode be medicated?
At my pre op assessment (for hip
surgery
) last Monday the ECG showed AF. No symptoms at all, I walk my dogs +/- 4 miles daily. My BP machine shows normal resting heart rate and BP. So on strength of one ECG my GP has prescribed anticoagulant tabs which I know is for the AF risk of clotting.

Multiple Cysts on the Rectovaginal Wall. Any Advice Greatly Appreciated.
The consultant I spoke to last, said that he would no longer advice or undertake
surgery
which I was hoping for to remove the cysts and I have now been referred back to my GP. The reason being is that
surgery
would come with a high risk of rectovaginal fistula.

For people who are about to have a bypass..
Where my health is concerned I was terrified of
surgery
. A neurotic coward . However I had such incredible people at Southampton Hospital who helped and guided me through the whole procedure I can honestly say I was not afraid . The staff only mentioned what it was going to be like after the op .

Pain Concern
Since my back
surgery
(micro-decompression at L4/5) in April 2020 my pain has brought me to tears on an almost daily basis. I know this is my rotational scoliosis because of the painful lump that protrudes from the right side of my lower back and x-rays done by a chiropractor.

Coming off of medication?
The
surgery
went well, all other arteries were clear, he attended the rehab programme and was coping well and was discharged. He’s on quite a lot of medication - aspirin, beta blockers, statins and ACE inhibitors and his dosage of the beta blocker was recently increased as he was feeling dizzy.

Tibilone experiences
I have very severe endometriosis and adenomyosis and am awaiting
surgery
which will likely involve having a stoma. I’ve previously had left ovary removed and both tubes and I’ve recently been told my right ovary is failing.

Seeking Advice for My Mom with Ovarian Cancer
She has already undergone ovarian removal
surgery
and chemotherapy at a private hospital. Initially, the doctor said the first few chemotherapy sessions were quite effective, but later, the treatment seemed to lose its effectiveness.

Heart failure (HFpEF) and CKD with EGFR drop from 52 to 38 in 8 months - help!
However in June last year he went in for open heart valve
surgery
. He had complications after
surgery
and was put back on a ventilator for a week because I was told 'he stopped producing urine' and had a lot of fluid around his body.

Does this look like lupus rash?
I’m going crazy wondering what it is and it’s got at least 2 GP’s confused at my
surgery
. Any idea’s would be appreciated but I’m not going to change the current “treatment” before I speak to GP again. Thank you.

CA-125: Never elevated (but diagnosed Stage3A2 in Nov 2022)
My tumor markers have always been “normal” although Ultrasound and CT scans detected masses before my debulking
surgery
(total hysterectomy). I completed 6 rounds of carbo/paxil in April 2023 and have been NED since then.

Spiraling down
I’m 25 and will likely be having back and/or head
surgery
in the coming months. He says he’s fine dealing with it and he just wants to get me taken care of but I know it’s got to be weighing him down.

wires
I am just enquiring if anyone else who has recently had open heart
surgery
, has a hole at the top of their scar. It appears like a hole but I have noticed wire sticking out (appears white) Just wondered if anyone has noticed this and what it could indicate.

Gp just rang...🤔
Hi everyone ❤️ A gp as just rang asking me to see her today at 4.45, I have no doubt this is in relation to the letter I wrote to the practice manager in the awful treatment I have received by the
surgery
concerning synthetic thyroid medication they have been pushing on me the last 5 years.

Oesophageal Sphincter
My wife had gastro-oesophageal cancer 12 years ago and had
surgery
to remove the cancer. Thankfully all was successful and she leads a very normal life. As one knows, post
surgery
one cannot lie down flat as the oesophageal sphincter has been removed thus causing acid to come up from the stomach.
