If so......how long can i stay on and why am I still on
statins
, beta blockers, blood thinners and GTN spray? I have had no diagnosis as yet,no consult, even my GP has no idea? Have resigned myself to just wait and see,my meds will need reviewing in August so I suppose I wait till then?

New to forum after recently having a TIA
I’m now on
statins
, anticoagulant and blood pressure tablets. I had already made significant lifestyle changes 6 weeks prior to this happening as that is when I found out my bp and cholesterol were raised, but it seems it wasn’t done in time.

Statins and grapefruit juice?
I was under the impression that, if one is taking
statins
, as I am, grapefruit and grapefruit juice were to be avoided at all costs.

Chloresterol drug, clinical trial.
I have been on
statins
since undergoing the bypass and my ldl chloresterol has been kept at an acceptable level between 3 and 4. The trial which will take 12 months will involve an under skin injection every 4 weeks with close and regular monitoring of bloods, ecg etc.

Statins
It is difficult to make any changes, but i think i would rather try to make some changes before I start
statins
. Are there any concerns regarding
statins
in general, or in relation to PA that I should be concerned about? I think I was low on b12 feb/march and had let dosing slip.

What is causing these awful headaches ?
I was put on isosorbide mononitrate, bisoprolol, aspirin and
statins
. I had awful headaches so the isosorbide mononitrate was reduced but the headaches continued, every afternoon I would get a dull ache which then turned into a migraine type headache, really debilitating.

While some drugs –
statins
, for example – are good at preventing heart attacks and strokes, and some at tackling cancer, only aspirin does both, stresses Elwood. One other advantage is its cheapness, itself a result of it being out of patent in most countries.

Taking statins with levothyroxine
I take a statin last thing at night and am thinking of taking my Levo tablet at the same time. Would that cause side effects?? Thanks.

What about those of us who genuinely cannot tolerate Statins
I would like to hear about people like myself who cannot
take
and been told by the hospital post triple bypass I cannot tolerate any of them. I am in my 3 rd year post op and wonder how long I have got. My blood test a few months ago said no further action needed .

has anyone managed to talk sense into their GP when reviewing medication for hashimotos in the UK?
She spoke to the GP who had reduced my levo dose who said I need to take
statins
! Luckily I've had this condition for years and have done my own research and refused the
statins
and asked her to look into other causes of high cholestrol like for example hashimotos!

Foods to avoid after heart attack and stent fitted
I'm on aspirin, clopidogrel, beta blockers, BP tablets and
statins
. I know to avoid grapefruit juice, and recently found out about avoiding cranberry juice as well. I've also read conflicting information about avoiding greens like sprouts, cabbage and cauliflower. Also bananas and tomatoes?

Dry throat
Hi everyone, Firstly thank you to everyone who replied to my post earlier this year when I started on
statins
. I felt very supported. I’ve not had any of the side effects listed on the info sheet with the tablets.

Thyroid problems and cholesterol
Hi I’ve been hypothyroid for over thirty years I’ve had to stop
Statins
yet again because of severe side effects, I was onRosuvastatin for 5 months. Noticed extensive muscle pain on top of chronic back and sciatic pain. No energy felt like you was dying.

Early 40s and been diagnosed with very early stage atherosclerosis
I guess the hardest thing for me is, there are no further scans, I'll be put on
statins
and it's then just fingers crossed, if symptoms arise then they'll be dealt with then. But the first symptom could be dropping dead.

Calcium scoring CT scan .. family related history
Read all the pros/cons/opinions about
statins
… everyone has a different story or experience, but for me its a no brainer .. it’s literally the only additional thing I can add to my armoury and 3 weeks in, I’m not noticing any side effects.
