Hello I am Kathy, and I am new to this forum and just wanted to ask, after what seemed like quite a rush to get me an appointment for a scan on the 18th January I have heard nothing back.I understand how busy the NHS is at this time, can i assume no news good news?

If so......how long can i stay on and why am I still on statins, beta blockers, blood thinners and GTN spray?

I have had no diagnosis as yet,no consult, even my GP has no idea?

Have resigned myself to just wait and see,my meds will need reviewing in August so I suppose I wait till then?

Contact the department where the scan was done. Ask for your results. They must have them if you were seen in January. Also ask for a followup with a consultant /cardiologist.You need answers now not in August. I urge you to be proactive. It is not about being pushy. It is about you looking after yourself. and being proactive.

I am amazed. I know NHS is busy but that is sheer laziness and incomitance. May I ask why Ct scan was done in your case or it was CT angiogram? Did the radiograph mention about calcium plaque. Whatever the case may be, you must demand the result. Ring up the cardiologist's secretary. They will be amazed as I was.

Hi,Thanks for the quick reply,I went to A&E in January with chest pain, which I had been having for some time seemingly since a particularly nasty virus in September(not Covid),I thought perhaps pericarditis, but by January it was still painful was having to sleep proped up in bed as my chest was worse laying down, waking early hours drenched in sweat, breathlessness.Of course when I went in to A&E was sent straight through for Ecg with no significant anomalies,my blood pressure was high and I have slight aneamia, blood tests were done my thyroid results were normal(I have had a thyroidectomy due to graves disease,my initial thought to my chest pain, perhaps levels were off!)When I did second ecg laying down,a mild depression in SR-v4-6 was detected, and I was put on the meds I mentioned an appointment for contrast CAT scan came through 5 days later!,so pretty swift in getting me in! Just seems a bit weird no results as yet.

I have tried contacting cardiology, and the scanning reception to try to get answers my GP also said she would chase it up,that was March!!!

I know there is often a bottleneck, as scans queue up to be ‘read’, interpreted by a Consultant (Radiologist), who then sends the summary, and the NHS is apparently very short of Radiologists, so it can take some time. But your wait does seem really very excessive. If you have no joy with the Cardiologists sec, try PALs (Patient Liaison service) at the Hospital you had it done. They are usually good at smoothing out communication problems, or concerns with the service.

DON'T be afraid to contact them! My mother always said that those who make a nuisance of themselves will get seen more quickly as they want to get you off their backs! Advice I have always followed....and it works! ;)) Mither them...daily! Your doc should be doing more too

Just thought i would update, rather late sorry. But eventually chased up the results of CT scan and spoke with the secretary of the consultant. There were no blockages, no thickening of plaque build up. No abnormalities, after failing to get an appt with my GP to discuss, I stopped taking the 4 meds i was put on for 5 months, and have had no adverse affects.

Thanks to all who replied
