Sputum test

Ive just got a txt from my gp today to say my recent sputum test showed candida and to contact gp, I worried now what can this mean and what treatment is there for it. I’m still coughing and don’t feel well. Thank you in advance

Sputum test grown Haemophilus influenzae. Tetracycline 250mg tablets - 40 tablets - take one 4 times/day 3 Sept Sputum test still have Haemophilus influenzae. Tetracycline 250mg tablets - 112 tablet - take two 4 times/day 29 Nov High resolution CT scan of lungs, also another sputum test.

Hi, My wife had blood and sputum test last week, showing a bacterial infection. Visited our GP Friday and he, after discussion and explanations, prescribed Ciprofloxacine. Has anybody used this at any time, and at what dose?

The lastest sputum test reported Candida guilliermondii. I am told by the Haematological doctor that this is not a condition that they treat unless I am unwell. Does this sound right? Should I be asking for treatment?

Just back from my regular respiratory hospital appt where I was told in a sputum test last year mycobacterium was found.I have bronchiectasis. This explained why I was having episodes of coughing blood. I had it back in 2021 but now I am to be monitored to see if it gone or not.

I always thought not but I've been worried about my OH's persistent cough - I know there could be many other reasons for his cough and his recent sputum test was clear but....

So today I’ve had almost every blood, nasal, urine and sputum test known to man. Today the Rheumatologist rang and said if there’s no answer from the tests, a PET scan needs to be done. Have others had a PET scan? Does it use contrast dye?

Sputum test for viral/bacterial infection came back neg from docs so what was it? Breathing hasnt been laboured nor was I short of breath? Any ideas welcome! Only concerned as i care for my 89 yr old mum and she needs me well! Thanks.

Both my wide and self have recently had Covid. symptoms seem to be dragging on and wife`s doctor told her to get a sputum test done. Finally after 2 weeks the results have arrived and she has Aspergillus fumigatus, a fungal infection in her lungs.

got my sputum test back …it’s Normal! Very good news , baffled though as the muck I coughed up was black , still that’s good news feeling better about it now. Had a CT scan this morning hope that is good too when I get results.

In desperation I rang GP this morning to get form for a sputum test at hospital. Was told I have to speak with a doctor and couldn’t have that appointment until Thursday! Have now left a message with Consultant’s secretary and am waiting.

I was told my next sputum test would be 4 weeks after my first day of medication... seems like a long time?
