Bronchiecstasis and asthma

been suffering, flare up with antibiotics and steroids since beginning of December. In desperation I rang GP this morning to get form for a sputum test at hospital. Was told I have to speak with a doctor and couldn’t have that appointment until Thursday! Have now left a message with Consultant’s secretary and am waiting.

The respiratory team here in Essex gave me a supply of sputum pots and forms so that any time I started an exacerbation I could get it looked at quickly. Speed is of the essence to stop bugs multiplying in our lungs apparently. A pity your GP surgery seems to be unaware of this. Seems very unfair. I hope you have more luck with the consultant. xx

i also have a supply of sample pots from the hospital. I drop them at the doctor and ring the hospital (Bournemouth) to let them know, they then look out for results and ring me. If you haven’t seen a respiratory physio ask for referral and some pots to keep at home Hopefully your specialist will get back to you and sort something

Persevere and good luck. Hope you get it sorted. I have Bronchiectasis and severe asthma and just got over yet another flair up 🙄

thank you for all the lovely replies! Still not had a reply from Consultant’s Secretary. Ended up in A&E this morning! It was a case of waiting 8+ hours or see a GP quite quickly. He has given me strong antibiotics and the advice to stand up for myself as it is my health. I intend to try and be better by Easter and then I will stand up for myself. Thank you again, lovely people.

I contacted my gp few weeks ago as so breathless …offered phone consultation with nurse 2 days time.

Rang back got face to face that day , but no treatment .

Ended up A and E , antibiotics only . Nothing else .

Hope your ABs starting to work , some days it’s hard to fight .

it is so hard to fight, especially when you feel so rotten. I really don’t remember things so bad. It is very worrying! Hope you get well soon!
