Stem cell transplant for Myelofibrosis
I saw loads of Doctors - hepatologists, haematologists, gastro etc and everything from a
splenectomy
to a TIPS procedure was discussed. I eventually had an ultrasound endoscopy (my 15th endoscopy in all) and after 11 days in hospital was discharged.

A phase II trial of eltrombopag for patients with CLL and thrombocytopenia
Splenectomy
is another effective treatment but is infrequently used. Eltrombopag, an oral TPO‐receptor agonist, activates intracellular signal transduction, leading to an increase in differentiation and proliferation of bone marrow progenitor cells resulting in an increased platelet count.

Why some of itp patients need a chemo? And spleen removal.. why does it worth for you to remove a spleen? Or the platlets count still same..
with this disease about 3 years ago.. and i had no idea.. before my platlets always low.. and it is stresssful the platlets no improvement 20k-50k.. last year on march is the most remarkable platlets counts for me.. it jumped to 150k.. then it turn back what my platlets.. was before.. should i go for

Question following serious medical condition
time here, I'm happy to have discovered 'BHF' who are almost certainly best to answer my query: I was diagnosed with 'Extra Hepatic Portal Hypertension' as an infant (59 years ago), I suffered with regular haematemesis all through my childhood, until having previously had a partial Gastrectomy and

I'm new here...
I'm thinking about getting a
splenectomy
, but to be completely honest I don't know how I am going to feel if it doesn't work... I've been eating pretty healthy and do fitness activites whenever I'm not sick or my joints aren't killing me.

Scared out of my mind
In 1992, she was diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma and has been in remission ever since, she had a
splenectomy
, both knees operated on, open heart surgery, stent and some other stuff. Knowing all this, I said why don't we leave it as is and continue to monitor it.

They suggest to wait e years before doing
splenectomy
. Personally , I know a woman in my relatives who had it during pregnancy and took 2 years of steroids to reach 70k off treatment . I've tried rituxrituximab that didn't work for me . Now starting nplate.

Looking for an alternative hematology specialist.
The hematologist then took over and today said the vein had been blocked since my wife was discharged after her
splenectomy
in France.

Blood test results (in French) what do they mean?
These are from Monday, my wife had a
splenectomy
five weeks ago after it ruptured due to a minor fall and nearly died after bleeding 3 litres internally while here on holiday in France. Do you think the results will get to be more normal given time?

Lipomas
Random question: Has anyone had a lot of lipomas post diagnosis of ITP or post
splenectomy
? I have recently started getting what I thought were swollen lymph nodes on my chest, shoulders and arms, but my GP seems to think they are lipomas. Just wondering if any one else had this happen.
