MF low risk to intermediate
My haematologist referred me for
splenectomy
, however I have declined for now. I still consider my spleen to be my friend.

splenectomy
I’m 2 months after the operation and so far so good - here’s to 2018 happy new year everyone

AIHA and ITP
I am not stable enough for
splenectomy
but that is in the mix. My question is how common is it to develop AIHA and ITP and treatment prognosis.

Splenosis anyone?
They often occur when a patient has undergone an emergency
splenectomy
as a result of rupture or trauma, but can sometimes occur in those who had an elective
splenectomy
(like some of us ITP peeps) too.

Hi everyone my name is Peter (59yrs) (Vegetarian) and in March 2016 I was told I had Oesopagheal cancer and that the tumour was 11cm, one of the bigger ones they said they have seen. Of course at that point my whole world collapsed, I already have a 26 year old son who has been on Oxygen for 23 years

Tissue v mechanical valve?
However I had a
splenectomy
last year after it went rogue and started killing off my blood cells, cause unknown, so am at high risk of infections and have to take antibiotics daily. In addition I understand that warfarin can be affected by diet.

31 years with ITP - new here
I had a
splenectomy
in February 1987 as my steroid response was useless, counts wouldn't stay up as soon as the dose was dropped below 40mg and I ballooned up. Unfortunately my
splenectomy
didn't help my ITP and in hindsight and the up-to-date medical knowledge I wish I'd never had it done!

ITP parent with ITP child
I was diagnosed 26 years ago, tho following
splenectomy
, have remained dormant for 25 years. 3 weeks ago, my 12yo son complained of 'freckles' on his foot. Looking at these, spotting multiple bruises elsewhere (luckily he'd just showered and wore only boxers!)

Get tested for H-pylori!!!
I've been to hell and back with constant single digit platelets, all the symptoms, all the treatments and a
splenectomy
, none of which worked. My specialist just about gave up on me.
