The Walton Centre for Neurology and Neurosurgery
Hi all I am on a waiting list for spinal surgery at the Walton Centre in Liverpool and was wondering if anyone has had surgery/treatment there? This is a revision procedure but I had my first operation at a different hospital, therefore would be grateful if anyone would be willing to share their experience

Spinal Fusion at L5-S1
Alright so I have reached my breaking point in back pain I have done everything in my power to avoid surgery but I can't take the pain anymore!!! I've done epidurals, pain meds, nerve block meds, chiropractic, physical therapy, and I've even tried my own strengthening routine (after lots of research)

Tinnitus. Other pain. Help please
Hi I had spinal surgery 6 months ago due to sudden leg weakness. Mri showed large disc bulge and bone spurs at T12-L1. Also had bad stenosis at L2 L3. So I underwent a decompression surgery. T12-L1 laminectomy disectomy with interbody fusion and instrumentation and a L2-L3 hemi laminectomy left side

Spinal cord stimulator trial update
Hi Folks, Thought I'd update as its been a roller coaster of emotion over the last week or so. When I got to hospital I was told I was having a tunnelled trial, where the leads for permanent implant are tunnelled in the opposite side of the lower back to where the permanent implant would be sited (

Compression Fracture of L1 vertebrae and chronic back pain
Hello, first time posting here. Has anyone had ongoing severe chronic back pain from breaking their back? Four years ago a wave at the beach dumped me into the ground breaking my back (L1). It was classed as stable so I was put in a back brace for 5 months. It was excruciating pain. Even though my spinal

Osteopathic treatment
Hello, first time I've posted. I've had chronic back pain, now widespread pain for many years. I had a spinal fusion 6 years ago, successful at first, then 18 months later symptoms increased again. I've had all the usual Nhs treatment including caudal epidurals. I'm currently trying to reduce my meds

Spinal Cord Stimulator update
Well, this thing that has been on the horizon for such a long time now is right in front of my nose! I'll be going into St Thomas' Thursday afternoon to have the trial stimulator fitted on Friday. It's a two week trial of a Nevro high frequency, which means there will be no buzzing or tingling - which

Agonising Upper Back Pain
Hi, I have had Pmr for 17 months now and am currently on 9mg Pred. I have developed almost crippling pain in my upper back, it feels like my ribs are sliding about and I keep getting stuck. I have had a Spinal Fusion in the past, so of course I am worried about this. I think I need an xray, but my GP

New Meds for Nerve Pain?
Hey all out there I am just wondering about other people's experience with gabapentin and/or nortriptalyine? I have unstable veterbrae with a severely herniated disc that's pushing constantly on my L5 nerve. I am looking into having spinal fusion soon but until then I am trying everything to get my

Do I have meningitis?
They also said a
spinal
tap
may cause more problems and that's the only way to diagnose it, so they didn't want to give me one. I've had a very slight fever at times, cold like symptoms, runny nose, sneezing, sinus drainage and a sore throat.

LONG week!
Had a
spinal
tap
(rather not do that one again) and still waiting for two culture results from that. Rheumy doesn't want me released until those come in and he's sure there's no infection roosting somewhere.

MRI,
spinal
tap
, brain scan. After more testing, one Dr. checked my B12 level, it was 80. I spent 10 days in the hospital and 10 days in rehab. They were not sure if I would recover. Left untreated, B12 deficiency can cause permanent brain damage. I was lucky, everything reversed.

4 weeks later
Then the doctors marched in saying they were going to do a
spinal
tap
and I about passed out. This hospital is a teaching hospital, so the tap was done by a doctor and also a student doctor. The told me what was going to happen and that I would be just fine.

I am still here!
Hello Everyone, I haven't posted for a while but have been checking in with you all everyday and responding to a few posts. I've been quiet because I've been trying to get my head around the long process of surgery and recovery ahead as it looks like I'll be going for the Spinal Cord Stimulator surgery
