Cavernoma Alliance UK
438 members
We are a community that supports those affected by cavernoma, otherwise known as cerebral cavernous malformations or cavernous angioma. What is a cavernoma? A cavernoma looks like a raspberry and are also known as cavernous angioma, cavernous haemangioma or cerebral cavernous malformation (CCM). A cavernoma is made up of abnormal blood vessels and can be found in the brain and/or spinal cord. Cavernomas can measure from a few millimetres to several centimetres. A cavernoma can get bigger, but this growth is not cancerous, and it does not spread to other parts of the body. Frequency 1 person in 600, in the UK, has a brain cavernoma without symptoms (asymptomatic). This equates to roughly 90,000 people – enough to fill Wembley Stadium. A spinal cavernoma is rarer than a brain cavernoma.
Cancer Journeys Foundation
380 members
The Cancer Journeys Foundation is a registered non-Profit Charity with the mission of providing cancer survivors and their supporters information, tools, and a community to create and implement cancer survivor programs. Our vision is a world where no one dies from cancer because they did not know they had the disease early enough for effective treatment or because they did not know what steps they personally could take to keep their cancer at bay. A world where every cancer survivor has the information and support they need to develop and implement their own unique self-help cancer survivor journey plan. Our goal for our community here in HealthUnlocked is to tap into the past experiences of cancer survivors and caregivers to pay it forward in helping survivors just beginning their cancer journeys. Our community leader, Robert Hess, is a 13-year prostate cancer survivor. Welcome!
Cervical Myelopathy
617 members
Cervical Myelopathy is caused by deterioration in the spine in the neck leading to compression of the spinal cord and symptoms such as “numb” and “clumsy” hands, loss of coordination, imbalance, bladder and bowel problems, and weakness that can progress to severe paralysis. The Cervical Myelopathy community is part of the myelopathy.org network founded in 2015 to raise worldwide awareness of cervical myelopathy to support patients, carers and professionals who live and deal with it. We understand that being diagnosed with Myelopathy is life changing. We also understand that talking about it will help. If you, or someone in your family, has been diagnosed with Myelopathy, We welcome you and We want to support you in your journey
