Statins
I had a call from my GP surgery about taking statins.Apparently my cholesterol is okay but I have a 38% risk of having a stroke or heart attack. Even though I take anticoagulant statins work in a different way and are recommended for me as I am in persistent afib I do not want to take statins but wondered

Borderline Ovarian Tumour and Endo diagnosis.
Hi all, I’ve recently had some news that I will need to have a full hysterectomy due to a biopsy result from an ovarian cyst I had removed 6 weeks ago. There is the option to keep one ovary for now. I was very lucky to have been seen by a gynaecologist and surgeon at my first referral appointment

New treatment
2 weeks ago I had liver ablation to remove 3 tumors on my liver. 2 were responding to treatment (anastrozole and kisqali for HER2 neg) and 1 was not. Surgery went well. Biopsy showed that the growing tumor was triple negative. Seemingly the other 2 (breast and hip met) are still HER2 negative. Anyone

Post-op FAQs
Hello Glaucoma UK community, I am currently in the process of creating a page on our website for the most commonly asked questions with regards to glaucoma treatments and surgeries. As you might know, we operate a buddy scheme at Glaucoma UK, which allows us to put people who are due to have a glaucoma

Iron levels.
Hi . I've had 12 transfusions after internal bleeding and surgery in April. My hb was at 6 before the transfusion. My levels are as below. Is this sufficient or would I still need a supplement. I am weaned off pramipexole now but while is hospital I was given tramacet and that was helping my legs.

Before I leave this wonderful group I'd like to pick your individual/collective brains. Since it's too late to help my husband, I'm looking for info that I can pass on to my son and 6 grandsons so they might better understand this awful cancer should they ever get it. I'm also providing a bit more info

Update on tests etc
hi all. Just an update after my recent CT scan, and the dreaded bronchoscopy on Tuesday this week. Obviously haven't had full results of latest CT scan, apart from a short note from my consultant to say there was a 6.5 millimetre nodule in ththe Apex of my right lung. They will monitor it, if it stays

Isolated Diastolic Hypertension
I have Isolated Diastolic Hypertension. I'm 50 year old female. My average bp reading is 106/93 (highest 125/117 and lowest 95/73) My gp surgery blood pressure readings are higher than my home readings for systolic so two years ago my gp prescribed Amlodipine but I passed out, the hospital said to stop

just had a craniotomy
hello I joined this group to hear how others are recovering from their crainotomy. I had my surgery 3 weeks ago to remove a meningioma which I’ve known about and had annual MRIs for the last 12 years. I’m kicking goals with my recovery was sent home 24 hrs after surgery due to no space in hospital

Hair & Nail supplements
I have rubbish nails which aren’t very strong and my hair is on the thin side. I’ve been looking at supplements and found one which has excellent results but contains herbal ingredients such as horsetail. I asked the surgery pharmacist if I can take it and she advised not to - she said herbal ingredients

Salt water washing post adult Circumcision week 6
It has now almost been 6 weeks post my circumcision surgery and the dry patches of skin still linger on my glans and frenulum. I have read on this forum elsewhere that salt water washes help in clearing these dry patches. I was wondering if 1) I should dip it in saline solution before or after taking

CBD (thc free) for pain relief
I’ve had a Triple Heart Bypass and Mitral Valve Repair. Before that I had a Lumber Spinal Laminectomy (which only worked for about 4 months). I’ve since also been diagnosed with Heart Failure so pain relief is very difficult. The Spinal Stenosis is now severe all down the Lumbar Region. I was given

Robotic Ureteral Reimplantation
Have any of you had this surgery? How did it turn out? My right ureter has a partial blockage that is believed to be radiation damage from my prostate cancer radiation treatments five years ago. The ureter is very narrow near the bladder, and urine flow is restricted. A surgeon at University of Chicago

Weight Loss Surgery
I'm 18 years post transplant and want/need to lose weight. I haven't been offered any of the weight loss drugs. However, I'm being encouraged to go the surgery route. My BMI is around 37 but I'm type 2 diabetic and have high blood pressure. I'm concerned for my kidney with all the diet restrictions

Wanting to learn from you...
Hello! I am here to learn what kinds of things you experience after breast cancer surgery. I am a physical therapist and I see people who seem to have similar experiences of not being given good advice as to what to do, what therapies to seek, what exercises to do, or anything pre or post surgically

GCA. Pulsatile tinnitus
May I ask what any of you good people know about pulsatile tinnitus. Do you consider my GP should see me, or at least write to me or speak to me on telephone. When I recently started hearing my heartbeat in same ear that GCA symptoms started I called my rheumatology dept & was seen. Had blood tests

Minor surgery and pred
Has anyone had minor surgery with general anesthetic while on less than 5 pred? I was told that 5 was the magic number they were interested but am wondering if they just ignore the steroids all together lower than 5. I will be flourishing that steroid treatment card for sure! Just to be on the safe
