Worried my Ca125 is 145 after 5 chemos, one to go.

Hello ladies

I am almost to the end of first line treatment for stage 4 clear cell. I had 3 chemos, then successful surgery, then 2 more chemos. My final one was meant to be today but my bloods were low so its put back a week which has left me feeling deflated as everything so far has gone to plan & I just want to get it done, but ofcourse I have to be safe.

Also my oncologist advised me my CA level is 145 & although she said it may still reduce to 0 after final chemo, I'm so worried it might not, and I may need more chemo, which she advised could be only 2 more (8 total).

Seeking reassurance and continued hope for the next chemo & beyond 🙏 ❤️

Ps I read every single reply to my messages & take it all in but sometimes too tired to reply to them all, so TIA xx

Hey Kazzh.

I am sorry to read your last chemo has been put back. You're doing so well cos you hardly got much of a break at all after the major surgery.

I can't help with the CA125 levels I'm afraid ( mine has not been monitored and our situations are different). I hear your worries and frustrations and I am gunning for you all the way. Hopefully the level will go down as your consultant said it could, sending a big hug to you! Glad to see you've found a way to swim. Hope another swim may help soothe your mind tomorrow XX

Hi Kazz, I will hope & pray that your numbers will decrease after next round. But if you have to have 2 more & it works its magic that will be ok too. You are an amazing fighter you got this. Rest rest rest. Xx

Surgery can elevate the CA125 due to inflammation. So it may have increased due to the surgery and is now on the way down as the inflammation reduces. The next test will give you a clearer picture of what's going on. Your onc is thinking proactively which is good to hear.

Hi Kazzh , first of all I think you are doing so well, and I appreciate your support in previous posts. although our situation is different and don’t have answers about C125 , hopefully Cheadle post helps, I can relate to changes in treatment plans . I was diagnosed with Ovarian cancer in December 23 , however there was delay in starting treatment due to fine needle biopsy not giving enough information, I had a laparoscopy in January and finally started chemotherapy in late March . Chemo has been delayed twice, once due to a reaction to taxol ( cardio only now ), second time due to low platelets. The plan originally was 3 cycles of chemo before surgery and has worked out to be 4 . It is nerve racking I know when treatment doesn’t go to plan . I was worried that the tumour would spread further due to delay and changes to chemotherapy but as you know from previous posts I’m now ready for surgery and tumours haven’t spread further. Hope you are managing to get swimming and C125 comes down. Best wishes and take care. Xx

Thanks so much, & I'm so pleased that surgery can now go ahead for you. It is unsettling having a change of plan for sure, my gynae nurse reassured me my CA level will still likely go right down after the final session xx

My CA has never been 0, mine is 7. I did a lot of chemo. IP , interperiteneal is really good helps keep reoccurrence from happening for 3+ yrs. Id ask about it. Best wishes , Liz

I was told a rising ca 125 during chemo was a result of the dying cancer cells and not to be overly concerned. My ca 125 went up during chemo a bit then down to 9 where it is now and has been for some time. So try not to worry. :)

Hi Kazzh, I came on here to post a comment and just wondered how you are doing. I hope your CA125 has come down again (if you have had another test and treatment that is) Emily X

Oh hi! Nice to hear from you. So I had my 6th & final chemo 2 weeks ago, and my CA level was 100 just prior to it, which is encouraging. That's the lowest its been since my diagnosis. I had a CT scan yesterday & will have more bloods taken 24 June. I then meet with my team 25 June to find out if I'm NED 🙏 My emotions have been quite erratic recently with coming to the end of chemo and facing the next steps. So I've signed up for some counselling through Macmillan. My family are all going away to Cyprus for my brothers 50th, I cancelled mine as I couldn't cope with the travel, heat etc atm & no swimming either. But feeling it that I will be here alone. Saddest of all, my friend qho is 34 with a 5 year old daughter passed away yesterday with stomach cancer. I'm totally gutted for her, she fought very hard but her tumour was relentless 😔💔. Life can be very cruel..

I do hope you're doing ok? xxx

Oh no that's miserable about your brother's birthday holiday. I'm so sorry to hear this. If you need to have a moan we are here.

Great news about your CA125. Wishing you the very best for 25/06.

I had my scan this morning. My appointment for the results, which was booked before my scan was, is not until 24/07. (It's ridiculous, but my onco is going away on holiday for 2 weeks so have been told they can't bring it forward, so what can I do?! )

Very glad you're getting counselling. I do hope it is helping you. You're going through so much and deserve as much support you can get.
