Isolated Diastolic Hypertension

I have Isolated Diastolic Hypertension. I'm 50 year old female. My average bp reading is 106/93 (highest 125/117 and lowest 95/73) My gp surgery blood pressure readings are higher than my home readings for systolic so two years ago my gp prescribed Amlodipine but I passed out, the hospital said to stop taking it and for the gp to prescribe an alternative medication. The gp decided not to prescibe any meds. I have carefully followed all lifestyle changes I can (I had a pretty healthy lifestyle in the first place) my diastolic remains high. Anyone else in this situation - any other tests/investigations to identify cause of high diastolic. My Father has heart failure and my Mother has irregular heartbeat. I'm worried the high diastolic bp is damaging my heart. Any advice/info of similar experiences greatly appreciated.

Hi Odd_One……really sorry to hear that meds have not worked for you…….BP measurements are usually higher in a medical setting (white coat syndrome) but it’s usually systolic that’s high in WCS……have you thought about a second opinion, consultant etc……..high BP long term is not good so following it to a satisfactory conclusion should be a real priority particularly if it’s causing you stress…..sorry to say my BP is under control but only with a concoction of CarduraXL/Tritace/Lecalpinide and Bisop……
