What's the relevance of low mean cell haemoglobin, but normal haemoglobin concentrate levels?
I'm confused about these results! Please can anyone help? What does mean cell haemoglobin mean? I I thought it meant I was anaemic, but my haemoglobin concentrate is normal. My ferritin is too low again I know. I understand my thyroid levels. I'd reduced T3 from 30 to 25mcg for 6 weeks hoping my TSH

RLS and Iron
After reading posts here, I wonder if a different iron supplement would help my RLS, and if so what type and what dosage? I’ve been taking 50 mg daily for a couple of months (the bottle is just labeled as iron) but it’s not helping alleviate RLS. Recent blood test results were Iron, 83 ug/dL; total iron

Hi all! I had my baby back in 2021 September. From about November I started feeling really 'not myself' I went to the doctors and was told I had iron deficiency. I was told to buy some ferrous sulfate, which i did. But they caused me to bleed from my bottom when going to the toilet. Now I am taking

Testing
I need help please. I have heart palpitations, headaches, hair loss and psychosis at same time. Doctor found severe anemia and thinks it is pernicious. She wants to do labcorp test for pernicious but they rule out if b12 normal. But you can still have pernicious with normal b12. Please what test is helpful

Liver function tests with Tocilizumab.
My Liver function tests are slightly out of range (0-35) mine were 42 last time and 46 recently. My Rheumatologist proposes that I come off Tocilizumab and start Methotrexate . It was my understanding that Metotrexate also caused raised liver enzymes. I don’t want to alienate my lovely Rheumatologist

Tips for Americans with PA
I was diagnosed this month with pernicious anemia, with major neurological symptoms. Like many folks, I had difficulty finding someone to provide daily or every other day injections. In addition, I discovered that Medicare does NOT cover B12 injections, and the cost at my local pharmacy for each cyanocobalamin

So what should I ask my new specialist?
Am a 50s male diagnosed with CLL less than one year ago. Recently, ALC doubling rate has progressed to <3 months, up to 48 k/uL recently. Platelets have dropped to 90s so not a health issue yet. Absolute monocytes recently up to 2.6k/uL, well above 1.0 nominal. Fatigue getting worse but no other

Blood results back. Ferritin low but haemoglobin normal. TSH slightly raised.
Hi, thank you for all your previous help when I first posted about how tired I was constantly. I was advised to repost when I got my blood results back from the doc. They didn’t test all my vitamins but these are, I think, the most relevant ones from my results. TSH 2.43 (0.3-4.50) I have an endo

Is low iron level relevant?
I have auto-immune thyroid disease (Hashimoto's). I have long had problems absorbing B12, B9 and iron. Just before the first lockdown in March 2020, I was diagnosed with pernicious anaemia. Please could someone tell me whether pernicious anaemia accounts also for low B9 and low iron? I now have regular

Is there a way to prevent haemolysis of finger prick blood draws?
Not greatly important, but interested in your thoughts. This has happened to me only 2 times over the past few years, and one of those times I delayed sending the kit back by a day (I was new to taking home tests then) so understandable. But this month it has happened twice in a row whilst trying to

Reference for iron, ferritin, folate, B12, D testing?
Hello, thanks to you all for offering such important and helpful information- I’m getting ready to meet with my doc and ask for these labs, and would love to present research in support. If you can, I would appreciate a reference. TIA - PBSC (in USA)

Iron + magnesium - bothered
I am experimenting with magnesium following some recent posts. I believe someone (jools?) is taking 100mg. I'm using magnesium bisglycinate and took one (88mg) last night, about 30 min before taking my alternate day iron bisglycinate (25mg) [on an empty stomach, of course]. The prior night had been RLS
