Haemolytic anaemia
Does anyone know anything about haemolytic anaemia? (It's the result of red blood cells not functioning properly). My situation is I've had ET for 6 years, hydroxy , then pegasys for the last 18 months, finally my platelets are nearly down to normal, but haemoglobin has been steadily falling, now at

Testing for PA
Has anyone had all the bloodwork (IFA, parietal cell, MMA, homocysteine) and endoscopy & colonoscopy (including biopsies) that all came back fine yet still have B12 deficiency or PA? Is it possible to still have PA without having any definitive test results. Endoscopy and colonoscopy did not turn up

Hi. I was diagnosed with PA about 6 years ago. I had my B12 shots at my surgery but after my initial boosters, they only gave me 1 a month (if that). So when Covid rocked up, I bought everything myself and have been self injecting for the last few years with my GP’s approval. I’m just about to run out

High ferritin low serum iron
Hello :) Last year I had blood taken and my ferritin was 86, at the middle of the reference range (15-150) However my serum iron was 65, in the low part of the range (50-170) Has anyone experienced high ferritin but low iron? I just had more bloods done and ferritin was 129. There was no serum

H Pylori and B12 deficiency
I am aware that untreated H Pylori can cause a vitamin B12 deficiency, but was wondering by how much? (I.e. could this be the *sole* cause of my B12 deficiency?) Maybe difficult to quantify I know, but was thinking whether I might in the future (after eliminating my recently diagnosed H Pylori) be able

How often should varices be checked?
My husband had three separate episodes of variceal bleeds in the fall of 2020. Esophageal and gastric varices which were either banded or glued. Sent home and no follow up, nothing. Now 18 months later he was back in hospital with another gastric bleed. It took four endoscopies to finally locate and

Low TIBC and low ferritin
Hi folks! I'm working on improving My ferritin levels (8, then 14, then 20). I've been taking iron supplements for the last 4 months but it seems i'm improving REALLY slowly. I'm worried, though, because my TIBC has always been low (240 on a 245-450 range). Does that mean I should take lactoferrin together

COVID after Evusheld
I just got a positive pcr COVID test. I received my Evusheld injections March 22nd. So far I’m not symptomatic. We have a free testing program in our city and I get tested once a week. Has anyone gotten COVID after Evusheld? I have no antibodies from the vaccines and one booster.

What are the Significant Tests to Determine Pernicious Anemia
Hello Everyone...I'd like to start by saying how much I appreciate each of you. I have learned an enormous amount of information since joining this group and it has helped me in so many ways; one of which is how to form questions to ask my doctors (I go in prepared with written questions as my brain

Lower Abdominal pain and Tocilizumab
Tocilizumab side effects: The main thing I have noticed is a proneness to infection, like UTIs, sinus, nasal and Blepharitis. This will be because my immunity is so firmly suppressed what with Prednisalone and Tocilizumab. I was able to quickly get down from 40 mgs of Pred to 10 mgs without the usual

Always Good to get Good News
Hi all, I had my first blood tests for a few months, last one we cancelled due to lack of test tubes or something. Any way all is good. Everything normal apart from a couple of things. CRP 1.4, ESR 2.0, and HbA1c 38 ( down from last one). My Haematocrit is slightly low and my Mem Corpusc.Hb (MCHC
