Is I’d OK to have a Shingles jab if I am 76 and have PMR and on 8mg Prednisone per day?

My first post
This is my first post, as recommended by the MSAA Community. I live in England, so a British MS group covers me. It is the MS Society, and I've joined in on a couple of walks to raise money for them. I've even done an interview on TV about my MS, though it was quite early in the morning and I know a

Flu Vaccine Study - call for participants
People living with conditions linked to chronic liver disease have higher rates of serious illness from flu. However, this group also tends to have lower rates of flu vaccine uptake. Researchers from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine are looking for people to take part into a study

A tip for Australians with Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia trying to access pneumococcal vaccination through the National Immunisation Program
What a morning I've had to get my third pneumococcal vaccine. I'll share the details here as the solution I found could help others with CLL in Australia who are having difficulty accessing these vaccines through the National Immunisation Program (NIP). In Australia, since 1 July 2020, it's standard

Rheumatology appointments - where have you gone?!
Has anyone had trouble seeing their Rheumatologist since the first Lockdown? I see a Rheumatologist at Addenbrookes and have done for 7 years. After developing new symptoms I was placed under the care of the Lupus nurse and had 2 telephone consults in late 2020 and early 2021. I also had a telephone

Shingles vaccine before JAK inhibitor?
Hello lovely people, Was just wondering if anyone decided to have a shingles vaccination before starting a Jak inhibitor? Know it’s a live one. I’m currently just on methotrexate having failed numerous other meds and biologics…been suggested I try Rinvoq next. Just a bit concerned about the shingles

Shingles again , so over this! Thinking of getting the vaccine- do the shingles vaccines work ?
I’m 59 with Sjögrens and a number of chronic conditions. I’m going through a bout of shingles after a bad ear infection (5 sets of antibiotics later). Ended up with shingles in the trigeminal nerve area, which was not picked up in time for antivirals., in spite of me flagging it with gp and then when

Celebrating the run
No runs for 12 days, to think that on that last one the NRC app gave me a badge for running 6 weeks in a row... I had good reasons not to run, a painful arm after my flu jab, a wisdom tooth out and of course, all that ice and snow. Husband has been having aches and pains so there's been no peer pressure

FCR-6plus years in remission - am I cured.
Had my 6 monthly telephone consultation yesterday. Still in remission with wbc at 5.7 and all in normal range. Super. So, I get round to the question “I know there is no cure as such but am I heading that way?” Answer; the nature of CLL means I could stay in remission for years or next time be heading

So Yet Another Follow Up - Starting I think 2020 - Bizzar,
Well those who know me will know not long ago I had scan including PET Scan for suspected Lung Cancer or TB. In the end was put down to new scarring. Many of you will know in 2020 I got Bladder Cancer symptoms - I was diagnosed with Bladder Cancer in site a year later and was treated with a TURBT to

Ultrasound for possible temporal arteritis
Well after being on prednisone since Oct, , 2016 , diagnosed origninally by GP, put on 40 mgs, and after over 6 years of treatment, slowly getting down to 4 mgs for last 3 mos, I now am having symptons appearing to be GCA related. I was on 5 mgs for probably almost 2 years, with not a lot of serious
