Any advice on explaining severe asthma to doctors and nurses?
I had a frustrating experience at the hospital yesterday. I've been in a bad flare that's gotten progressively worse so last week I started my at-home protocol of 50 mg of pred a day and Ventolin 3x a day. Yesterday, on day 6, I was even worse so I went to the hospital. Because I wasn't wheezing and

surgery and effects on asthma
I had ear surgery today and the anaesthetic team were fantastic regarding my asthma, with putting me at ease and talking me through different plans if anything happened re asthma. They decided to give me some steroid (for anti sickness and hep my chest as a preventative measure) 3/4 through the surgery

Prednisolone dependent - considering controlled reduction in hospital
I have
severe
asthma
which doesn't respond well to conventional treatments and has been getting more brittle month on month. I've had 2 x 10 day hospital admissions within 3 months and was very close to needing ventilation on the last one.

Hello everyone, I was diagnosed with CLL in August 2018 and so far have remained on watch and wait. In September 2019, I had successful surgery for colon cancer, had a stoma for 6 months and then a reversal and have been "all clear" since then. Also, as a bonus, the chemo I had for the colon cancer

Asthma and throat clearing
Can someone please tell me if asthma causes constant throat clearing.? I was diagnosed with asthma because of this alongside GERD. I have been given a preventer, brown inhaler but really not convinced it is helping although I have been told by nurse this can take some time to become effective.

Niraparib ( Zejula) with an ileostomy
hi everyone , is anyone with an ileostomy taking Niraparib ( Zejula) ? I took Rucaparib but lost so much fluid through the stoma that there was very little padding through the kidneys and it caused kidney problems. I may now take Niraparib . Just wondering if anyone has experience with an ileostomy and

Asthma attack or panic attacks.
Hello everyone, yesterday I had quite a bad asthma attack due to a chest infection, it was the first really bad one I've ever had so I'm petrified. I'm terrified of having another one and this is setting off panic attacks. I'm struggling to tell the difference between the two because I'm wheezing

Asthma and EGPA
I was diagnosed with eosiniphilic asthma five years ago. Prior to this I had struggled for two years - GP's opinions ranged from COPD to heart failure. I had been suffering from sinus problems as well as breathing issues - in fact I had nasal polyps removed. Fast forward to 2022. I am on my third

Newbie still with unsure diagnosis
They have said they think it’s more asthma but as I always need steroids they think I will be referred to

clinic, though my asthma just appears back in 2018 for no reason.

Salamol doesn’t work for me! Is anyone else finding it less effective than Ventolin?
Thankfully my asthma is going through a good spell, but as you’ll see from some of my previous posts, my chest can be very difficult at times and my
asthma
quite
severe
. Is there any way I can somehow still get prescribed Ventolin?

dehumidifier
I am wondering if this will be affecting my
asthma
, which is quite
severe
and not very well controlled. I am thinking of getting a dehumidifier and wondered if anyone else has found them helpful, and could recommend a good one. Thankyou all in advanced.
