How do you know when you need oral steroids
I have been struggling for a while now to regain control of my asthma (gone from only needing seretide 125 to being on seretide 500 and montelukast over the last year, with only a small improvement in symptoms) I am avoiding all the definite triggers (smoke, pollen as much as possible etc) and trying

Diabetes
My DH has diabetes - controlled with tablets. Does anyone know if there is a diabetes site or forum similar to our asthma forum? Plus I've read that Seretide can increase blood pressure and diabetes risk. I'm on seretide 250, my dad developed insulin dependent diabetes in his mid-60s so should I mention

Seretide
Hi I'm new to this site. Just wanted to let off some steam regarding my recent bout of flu (even though I've had a flu jab)! This will be my fifth cold/virus this year - the last three being since the beg of Nov. It totally p****s me off to be honest. I've got to admit my asthma is well controlled

Silly me?
I was just wondering if I;m the only one feeling the same, but would like to hear from othes in the same proverbial boat: i don't want to take any medication. I've always only ever reluctantly taken a paracetamol for only the worst of headaches, but now I don't even want to take my asthma medication,

new symbicort inhaler
Hi I've just been changed from seretide to the new symbicort inhaler. The asthma nurse said that when my asthma was playing up i can have up to 12 puffs in a day to relieve my symptoms. Does this mean i cant take salbutamol if i need it? or do i take it if my symptoms haven't improved after a couple

Stronger reliever?
Hi! I'm new to this board, and have had asthma for about 5 years. Im currently taking Salbutamol as required and Seretide 125, although I have recently just finished a course of prednisolone and Seretide 250 after I ended up in A & E with a fairly bad attack and needed a couple of nebs. However, if

Side Effects
I know that Atrovent is non-steroidal, but it is possible that in its inhaled form it makes you gain weight? Also, is the amount of steroid in a Seretide 250 inhaler enough to make you gain weight? Or is it just oral steroids? Thanks in advance Emz x

IgE number?
Hi everyone I went to my GP today for the results of my allergy blood test - I've posted on here before about what happened, but basically had to cut short a holiday to Ireland to due an asthma attack, however peak flow was good throughout and felt much better when I arrived home, making me think it

Odd
I'd a funny time last night. Wondering whether I lay down too quickly after inhaler. Or perhaps particles of dust from building site - l'm not opening my windows until the site is all cleaned and finished next year. I'd taken my nightly two puffs of seretide, last thing and settled down to sleep. Started

Spiriva Capsules
I was wondering how many of you use the Spiriva Capsules? I know you can only use them if you can 'suck in' enough breath and luckily I was able to meet the requirmemts, but after only one dose I was feeling 100% better than just using Salbutamol and Seretide, it really has changed my life, only trouble
