I know that Atrovent is non-steroidal, but it is possible that in its inhaled form it makes you gain weight?

Also, is the amount of steroid in a Seretide 250 inhaler enough to make you gain weight? Or is it just oral steroids?

Thanks in advance

No word on this site of weight gain as a side effect of atrovent: rxlist.com/cgi/generic/ipra.... As far as I understand it, you can't put on weight with inhaled steroids - the meds are going straight into your lungs, and not your whole body as such.

Hope this helps.....

I've been on Atrovent for 2.5 years and not experienced any weight gain from it, also no mention of it in the leaflet that comes in the box.

With regards to inhaled steroids I have always been told that because the drug is inhaled as opposed to swallowed in tablet form there is a very little chance of weight gain as it is targeted at one specific area of your body - your lungs! You don't say how many puffs of seretide 250 you are currently on but I take 4 puffs twice a day of flixotide (the steroid component in seretide) and have had no problems with weight gain in the past 18mths at that dose.

Perhaps talk to your gp if you are experiencing weight gain and not sure of the reason?

Hope this helps,
